US Democratic Presidential Debate for 2020

Thoughts on the first US Democratic presidential debate for 2020?

I personally thought that the Democratic party has gone this way: who can go left the furthest. Who can give more promises than the other? "I'm gonna reverse everything this shit president has done." Who can be more socialist?

Also, the moderation was terrible. The moderators asked Andrew Yang like 2 questions then cut off his mic. They let ole' Bernie and Kamala go on rants and asked them too many questions.

As an independent voter, I don't see this appealing at all.

i want all humans to have free healthcare. I want medicine to be free.

I want everything to be free. I currently work FOR FREE, only asking for 5 dollars to barely cover gas. Why? Mainly because im a dependent, but other reasons.

Sadly, everything is not free.

So the government taxes us for healthcare. So we're all paying for everyone's healthcare, so instead of me saving my money and trying to avoid having to spend tons of money on healthcare, I am being drained of my income that I could use to budget other things. (but again, i work for free, so theres not really an income, but that doesn't matter, I'm covered. I can go get in a wreck right now and the american people would freely pay for my medical bills {yes i know insurance doesn't cover anything, I do have medical/dental for free from the government, and people barely take it})

so i'm not paying taxes because i have zero income, but again, im covered. -- what?

i pay my taxes like a normal american. lets just say they don't increase the taxes, and just cut spendings, ok nice, im still paying for it.

So now instead of defense (which to me is a nice thing to pay taxes for imo, but i'd like to see more toward NASA because we need to keep the technologic advancement in america) i'm paying for healthcare.

ok, cool. but, why is my dipshit neighbor who doesn't pay his taxes and gets drunk every night and drives around the interstate systems completely drunk (and who just happens to be friends with the cops) allowed to be covered? How about a man who comes into america illegally, ( (doesn't speak much english) with stage 4 cancer that has a 99.92% casuality rate covered? Why am i now paying for their insurance? I'd rather pay that healthcare tax to saint jude everyday than give it to shmucks that don't deserve it.

again though, I do want this, I want healthcare to be FREE. I want doctors to work for free. Do doctors want to work for free? No. So the government must pay them. How does the government make money? Through the citizens, who have to buy food, water, shelter, clothing, and fuel. They also have to budget and save, obviously their healthcare fund now belongs to everyone in the world who sets foot on America, so thats nice.

why can't food be paid for by the government? Everyone should be allowed a certain amount of food every week (ya know, the minium)

another thing, why have free healthcare when the government still hasn't banned tobacco/nicotine/vapes? they literally cause cancer, mouth rot, and cell mutations. YET WE'RE SPENDING 300 BILLION ALONE ON SMOKING RELATED DISEASES ALREADY LOL

Hey. So yeah I watched the debate and I honestly have some things to say about it. First of all, many of you guys know that I'm a fucking leftist. I am not a communist or anything, but i'm very much a progressive person and so I really do hate most of the people on stage. Many of them were just pandering to the status quo, and honestly, Donald Trump would easily best all of them in a fight save for Biden or Bernie. Andrew Yang is kind of the wildcard. Let me explain.

This is in no particular order, and I will go ahead and edit it later.
1. Kamala Harris is a strong and powerful speaker, and she is relatively progressive, but I think that most of her points were sort of watered down when compared to someone like Bernie sanders. I haven't gotten to the part where she apparently berates Biden. I'll get their soon.

2. Joe Biden doesn't even attack any of the points the others are making. He just lucidly attacks Donald Trump, as if he has already won the primary. I hate this behavior. While Joe Biden isn't the worst, he basically represents the media's bias and favor to win. He isn't all that remarkable, and his policies are basically just Obama part 2. He would likely have a better chance against Trump than Hillary did, but many of her problems are his as well.

3. Bernie Sanders is basically one of the most down to earth politicians in the world, and he means everything he says. I honestly love it when he speaks and his policies are actually helpful to the american people. Free education and free healthcare would do wonders for our country, and the fact that we don't have that is crazy.

4. Andrew Yang has a lot of great ideas, and as a progressive he shows great potential. The problem is that Yang has little to no experience in politics, and the mainstream media is going to give him the shaft just like they did Bernie Sanders. Seriously, they gave him fuck all in this debate. One question about UBI and that was it. They didn't even really let that idea be debated, they just ran with it. Yang is not going to win the nomination, and he never was, it would be naive to think otherwise.

5. Kirsten Gillibrand is a fuckin idiot. Every time someone else was talking she felt the need to interrupt them to basically mutter some incoherent bullshit about whatever the topic was suppose to be. I didn't like her, and I easily think she was one of the worst parts of this debate.

The rest of them really don't matter. I'll edit this when I finished the debate. Also I highly disagree with Aluf on this, most of these people are very moderate. While there is a growing progressive wing in the democratic party, it has grown because there is actual genuine support out there from the people. There are a few moderates pretending to be progressive, but most of the ones who are progressive actually are that way. Bernie Sanders has been championing the same position since he began as a politician. You have to get a certain number of supporters in order to be on that stage, and these people are wickedly popular. If trump went up against Bernie sanders or Biden, most people would likely have gone with Biden and Bernie because their ideas are popular and they have much more of a benefit for the average american. I mean, trump is offering a wall, Bernie is offering free education and free healthcare. Being someone from Michigan who has no need for a wall, i'd take bernie over them anyways.

Also on the topic of giving undocumented immigrants access to welfare: I mean, they would still pay for it... I don't know if republicans know this or not but if you live in this country you still pay sales tax and gas tax and a whole bunch of other state taxes that go to support welfare systems. Maybe if we saw immigrants as people who just want a better life for themselves we would all show more compassion. I don't know. Just a quick rant.

 

Fact most people who use welfare are republicans in red states.

Fuck that shit, it's disrespectful to all those who came here legally, and worked their asses off to do so. Moving to this country is a privilege, not a right, as is accessing our services to help our people.
There's starving people in our streets -- let's take care of them first before we deal with another countries problems.
Now - I'm a server. Won't say how much I make, but it's a decent amount. Hourly, I make $2.13. Pretty much all my hourly pay goes right into income tax. It's not fair to me to be paying for someone who pays $0 into income tax because they're here illegally.
To be clear: I have 0 problem with legal immigrants. Pay your dues, work hard, and you can do whatever you want idfc.

 

Why does it have to be mutually exclusive? Can't we not help ourselves and help immigrants? By the way, why do people have to work their asses of to get into the country legally? Does that have something to do with why so many try to cross into this country illegally? Why do you have to work so hard and pay so much? I'd rather see everyone get the help they need.

 

Because, the money that pays said welfare is mutually exclusive. The moment you make the illegal immagrants pay the income taxes etc, and dont just border hop to get the welfare, I'm down with it. Personally I'd love a much more open borders world with strong protection but loose restrictions on travel.

But someone has to pay for it. And you aren't gonna get the world to work by having only a few people pay for everyone else.(by few I mean those who pay their taxes)
