We need an overhead signal when players are typing into chat. (Above their player model) Lets us know in overtime whether their AFK or just typing into chat Let more players give a chance to explain for when they kill someone
What about when people are typing in T chat? Would you see the bubble? If you don't see a message in public chat after the typing surely they'd be typing in T chat?
I dunno, might affect my pwnage skills with a bunch of distracting chat bubbles above people's heads.
maybe have chat bubble for everything but T chat? and detective chat too. Although, I don't like this idea. It says SHOOT ME IM STANDING STILL! -1 would be too easy for Ts to kill making their life easier.
Of course not cause it's team chat. Private chat in a way. Would be amazing if it would be possible where: A T is typing into T chat and only his T buddies can see the bubble to avoid Teamkill in jihad etc. (Same for detectives typing into team chat)
I'm actually going to argue this a bit. They could messaging adminchat. They also could be private messaging a player.
I think this is actually a super smart idea! I would like to this see IF it's possible to program, and to Carneds point, not view able via T chat unless you're a T!
/advert sir this a mugging, please drop a reasonable sum of your disposable income +1, allows a bit of grace to our strictly keyboard only warrior
Would be easy to target those who are typing in chat (if you're a T and see someone vulernable...) People will kill on suspicion if a player is typing something but nothing is said in chat after they're done This isn't a huge problem to begin with. Most of the time, AFK players are AFK, and usually, people only kill if they were standing still for quite a while, not if they just stop for a second -1
Could make it a relatively cheap pointshop upgrade to enable it/disable it at the players leisure, allowing opt in/opt out capabilities.
I like wink's idea ofdoing it, but making it mandatory seems like an issue. I personally would find myself dead a lot more, and kill people typing a lot easier. Makes caution less of a thing, I guess.
I greatly admire this idea and want it to act as a plan B if the original doesn't quite please enough people. Regardless I really want this implemented even if it is an option to enable/disable.
+1 as alreay said this is good for multiple reasons. You're already standing still while typing so what difference does it make if you have a bubble ontop of you?
The counter argument being made against it is that it'll be a big old bubble above your head, maybe reaching over cover and allowing for an easy pick. Seeing as there are clear advantages and disadvantages to it for players using it, I think opting in/reducing the size from the big old standardized bubble a bit may be the best way, as there are many no microphone players who may benefit from this who would appreciate it.
Maybe create a view distance exemption? After a certain amount of distance the typing icon would disappear to create more protection against snipers. *shrugs*
