State of the server.

I've held my tongue and kept out of this forum for quite awhile, but some of the things that have been going on are getting ridiculous. While there are problems I have in regards to the balance of features on the server, the economy, etc., this is more of a rant on my part on the community that is being established on the MC server.


I was on the server today and a new character came on the server. He was promptly helped by the staff with his questions and such, no biggie. He then asked to build near people because he didn't want to be alone. Now, most people said no, which is perfectly understandable. I decided to be a nice guy and let him tp to me and give him some things and let him build in my area.


This is where things went bad for me. After giving the guy some decent equipment and some supplies to get started on his home, I was killed by another player (not the new guy). Not really a big deal, I suppose. I didn't have anything valuable on me really, so that didn't make me upset.

What got me upset was that 3 more people, all separate players, then each killed me upon me exiting my home. So, in total, I was killed by 4 players in the span of a few minutes. The last 3 deaths I had literally nothing on me and was either standing still or in an open field, posing no threat whatsoever. Oh, and they also killed the new guy I was helping repeatedly.


This kind of behavior is frankly disgusting. I'm taking some time and resources to help a new player to the server, and this seems like the perfect opportunity to not only kill me repeatedly while I have no gear/items and am posing no threat, but also to repeatedly kill a new player whom I'm trying to help out.

Out of the players killing us in this scenario, one of these players was a MC staff member, and the other 3 are also staff members at this community. While I think it's distasteful for non-MC staff members to be acting like that, I find it abhorrent that a MC mod would be behaving in this way. I would figure they would be approving of helping out a new player like I was, but no. It's a PVP server, so fuck it, right?



This is only one small piece of a trend I'm not liking in the current MC server, and I'm sure I'm not the only one here who shares this view. The server has become a place where there is no community outside killing other players for any reason at anytime, and it's really disappointing. When people can't even take a break from this behavior to help out new players to the server and get them settled in, instead actually setting them back by repeatedly killing them over and over again, there's something wrong.

 

The reason there is nothing but killing is because people like myself, graze, popstar etc are infinitely rich, we have nothing better to do but collect heads. Honestly they need to remove the market and possibly do player resets, not a server reset a player reset! People have abused McMMO and we are all too rich for our own good.

That literally makes no sense at all. Instead of helping out a newer player and get them settled in, you would come and kill them repeatedly and steal their starter level shit, and repeatedly kill the one person who is helping them, who not only isn't 'infinitely rich' like you are, but also has no stuff on them at the time.

That is literally the problem with the server.

 

They arent doing it just because, they are doing it for heads because that's all the server has in value to the rich. They literally have nothing to do, they have built xp farms, cow farms etc they have everything and anything they need, all they dont have are heads. So they take whatever opportunity they can instead of sitting in their base doing absolutely nothing because they are infinitely rich and have found all the loopholes in mcmmo so they dont need to farm anymore.

 

I didnt say it wasn't a problem, I know it is, I am explaining to you why they are doing it, they dont care about your items/money they just want heads cause they have absolutely nothing better to do because they messed up the launch and the market.

 

You have a lot of money so you go against the people that doesn't have anything to steal their head(but do take everything else they have) and they can't get things back as fast as others either. You are a real hero *slow clap*

 

You even said you did it so why do you do it if you yourself say it's a problem?

At what point did I say I was the one killing anyone, I just said people like myself graze and pop are infinitely rich with nothing better to do, we buy heads off the market, I didn't say we are the ones murdering everyone we see.

As a matter of fact Pop and I gave a new player a fully enchanted diamond set last night.

So please do not put words in my mouth ana. I am explaining the problem for anyone that doesn't know, trying to make it clear that it is due to the economy.

It is 100% admirable and definitely good on you to help out a new player, honestly, it's quite outstanding. I think an incident like this shouldn't dishearten you from assisting more players just because a few came by with malicious intent.

While this situation might have been scummy, it was within the rules, and quite frankly it was within the natural mechanics of the game. Your post seems to focus more on the nature of the acts that took place, but you'll have to remember that this is ultimately the internet and there will always be those who aren't aligned with the way you think/play.

If it's not too brazen of me to suggest that you keep doing you and keep being the nice person that you are, you'll see far more good in return than a few setbacks. Play Minecraft your way and don't get discouraged.

Just because it's within the rules, does not mean that mods of this community should be engaging in increasingly scummy behavior, nor should it be defended simply because it is 'allowed'.
