My question is, why in the first place do we need to prevent players from farming end fortresses???

Helps mitigate inflation of the unlimited valuables in relation to the economy.

No Border = Unlimited The End space = Unlimited End Fortresses = Unlimited goods

Border = Limited The End space = Limited End Fortresses = Limited goods

Furthermore, it's a border of 300k with time yes it'll be drained of resources but it's not like we're cutting off all possible resources from end fortresses with this.

Nothing was mentioned on a Balance reset, I know you probably can't give me a 100% answer, but is that in anyway considered?

We have not discussed a balance reset.

If we're going to fire the nuke it's going to be the last resort.

As an owner of a villager spawner, what can I expect to receive for it?

  6. I would think in my opinion, 2 villager eggs since that's all you need to make an infinite source. Just takes a bit more work than a spawner

But don't quote me on that. Not my desicion

Just give them their money back (80k?).

You'll be compensated the original price of the spawner.

S0 of course this means that players in a few months wont be able to get anything themselves and will have to buy it from the big old guys. But with which money? I mean you cant earn it yourself since there are no resources you can get for yourself aka there is no way to get money. You are limiting the lifespan of the server even more. I understand that you have to balance the economy, but this wont help the server at all. No matter how you see it, there is always going to be an existential problem with this type of economy survival that will eventually doom it. Thats why I have suggested to switch gamemodes entirely multiple times, so we can save the server.

Limiting the end doesn't limit any particular item from any player, end fortresses are just another way to obtain items in-game. As far as Elytras and such, these items will eventually be drops at different percentages from the ender dragon, but having an infinite world is a really bad idea for a number of reasons, despite what any one player may think (infinite exploration also equates to infinite file size for example).

I understand that having the infinite end is the worst choice. But the reason economy works is because items are limited right? Well in real life money cant just disappear in thin air, but in MC items burn, fall into the void, and despawn. Eventually all items limited by this limited End will run out completely. And dont you think its a bit extreme for player to have to go against the Ender Dragon to obtain these items?

Im not trying to rain on anybody´s parade, instead I think auto criticism is the way to perfection. I am one of the first people who would love to see the server prosper, but these problems cant be left there without mention. We have to find an effective solution for all of them that is worth implementing them. And I think the most important thing is to consider what will happen in the long run, since I think what is intended here is to build a server that can succeed just like TTT and be prosperous in years to come, and I just dont see it with the current MC server.

I want to quickly thank you and the rest of the team for the tremendous effort being put into this project.

I hear ya, but do you have any suggestions for them? As of right now, we've limited the end (mostly for file size, to prevent it from growing out of control). That's something we can't negotiate unless storage becomes infinitely cheaper for some crazy reason. The ender dragon dropping those items (shulker shells, elytra, other random fortress-only obtainables) is one way we can give these items out. Another is having them in the server market (elytra already are, and prices have been made much more reasonable). But if we come up with other ideas for this, we can surely implement them, however the end will not have it's border removed.

I would consider the possibility of selling these items a good one, but we should implement more effective ways of earning money. For example, we could build refreshable dungeons for players to compete for money and perhaps loot, like Destiny´s raids.

I still think, and I know im being heavy but I need to enforce it, that the best solution is switching gamemodes to a more renewable replayble one.

I mean, a nuke is sort of what the place needs. Maybe give the option to let players transfer their homes and keep their McMMO skills, but items at least need to be reset, as well as the world and balance. We worked hard to get it, but early exploits gave people like me such a massive advantage over other players it would take them months to catch up if I stopped playing five days ago.

What Im trying to figure out is, what do they have to lose? The server is already on its death bed. Are they worried about losing their concurrent playerbase of 8 during peak time?
If they reset, I'd bet a lot that the player base would return, at least for a little while.

This game follows the same rules as Diablo 3 for me. Seasons in Diablo 3 is the only reason the game is still relevant, and Id be willing to wager that it could be the same solution here.

That being said, they need to fix the core issues first before resetting. Let's see if they can pull that off.

Edit: I do realize I am being pessimistic. To me, this is just the nature of MC servers, especially Vanilla Survival ones. Without any given goals, most people just get bored and move on. I've seen it countless times before and this time is no different.

The problem I have is that its all half-measures. They are addressed the cause of most of the problems, but the effects those causes produced are still very much in effect, and won't ever be removed unless the server is restarted. If there is a way to reset the world and bring structures over, that would certainly be the best option, because it would give the server a healthy new start without sacrificing all the hard work people have done.

I think a full server reset isn't really needed, but a balance reset is the best way to make sure that the changes work the way they want them to work.

Just so I can understand your view point, what would a balance reset include? In full detail if you could.

A balance reset is only another half-measure. Yes, money will have more value, but people who started out with a lot will have a significantly higher number of assets than people who didn't. If you look just at my spawner collection, I have more than most people will ever achieve in even small groups, and there is no way for that advantage to be equalized. If anything, I have even more of an advantage, because now there is literally no possible way for them to match my early exploits, and now I can sell my things to dominate the market, along with other people with lots of items

Not sure if you saw- but most spawners were recently decreased in prices and ALL villager spawners will be removed. This is an answer to some of the concerns you're echoing and an attempt to fully address some of economy concerns.

I think in order to run a stable economy we're just going to have to remain fluid. Prices in the market will need to fluctuate- and players in the now implemented chest shops will adjust their prices as well.

I'm not for a reset after discussion with a lot of players and devs. No matter what changes we make, as @Squidd - people will come grinding and eventually reach a point where they feel like they have everything they want/need. There will always be these players. And yes- some of them will leave. Hopefully some of the mini-game features will encourage some of the users to stick around. But at this time I don't think a reset is valuable because all it is doing is creating a latent period in which we end up in the same situation.
