The judges are made judges in order to judge.
They have the right to criticize the contestant's food ("contestant" not "chef" as "chef" is a title awarded to those who have proven they can cook at an advanced level) because they are wait for it judges.

Funny you say this considering most members of a jury panel have extensive knowledge when it comes to the particular thing they are evaluating.
However, most jury members on Master Chef are usually celebrity chefs or chefs nonetheless.
Out of all the things that involve juries you picked the worst example.(As Master Chef usually has people that can cook very well as their juries)
You could have said "sommelier" (as sommeliers are wine experts but not wine makers.)
You could have said "car dealer" (as they obviously can asses the quality of a vehicle but don't posses the knowledge or machinery to build one themselves)
Hell, you could have said "connoisseur"(yes, of any kind, even "meme connoisseur").

I support this decision fully, you indeed should.

TL : DR

If you are going to do nothing but complain without bringing anything constructive,positive or of any worth to the table at least back it up properly.
And for the love of God, turn the blind eye every now and then dawg.
