  1. I want to know who's been misbehaving and people probably want to know what I've been up to.

I don't see any negatives coming from this, especially in regards to applying for staff positions, everybody can use a player's ban history and in-game behaviour to judge whether they've turned a new leaf.

I'm sick of seeing player's names greyed out and not knowing why they've been banned unless I ask in the shoutbox.

    Let me snoop goddammit

Viewing other players' ban lists may cause a negative influence on that player. If a really nice player has been banned for let's say hacking/ghosting, people might stop talking to that player or think that the previously banned player is a bad person.

  4. No, that's bullshit. Most experiences of a player are affected by how they conduct themselves in game and on the forums.

I get treated based on how I've behaved. Bear in mind I used to be (and still am to a degree) toxic but once I realised how to interact with people and behave in-game my experience became a lot better.

I mean I wouldn't stop talking to someone that got banned for hacking or something like that, but I understand that people can feel bad about their bans, so I'd say there should be a checkbox where you could choose if you wanted to show your ban history to everyone or just keep it "Private".

That's the point. People treat other players based on behaviour. A hacking ban may lead to a bad reputation, even though the player is nice. Because of that, people might get more negative ratings and, as mentioned, bad influence. (although negative ratings is a bad example).

You should make a new suggestion off of that (the checkbox).

I suppose I wouldn't be against letting players have it as an option to let their ban history be public. As long as it was their choice.

I'm aware of the thread, I've posted my own history. However as I said, I wouldn't be against the idea of letting players enable it to be viewed, such as on their profile. The default setting should be private though if it were added.

This thread gives you the option to share your bans if you want to. This is what you want. Why would anything else be needed.

I didn't make this thread, and it is not "what I want." I just wouldn't be against the idea. As I've stated.

It's not public info because it has no value to anyone but staff. If you want to know you can ask the person in question and if they don't want to tell you leave it at that. You have no right to know about the bans another person have. And you do forget that regular users have nothing to do with apps because they don't know others have anyone so how is that a valid argument for having it. Are you saying you want to backseat apps as well?

I agree but at the same time I don't so I mean it's not really our business. -1

The thread gives you the option to let their ban history be public by posting it which would be their choice. How is that not the same as having an option to share it if you want

It's not your business to see why other people are banned. If you want to see a specific player's bans you need to speak with them.

I have not stated that the two are not the same. They achieve the same goal. I am neutral on this suggestion, regarding the option to make public. That is the ONLY, thing to be derived from what I've posted. I don't know how much more I need to reiterate that point.

I think this community is one of the only gmod places I've seen where bans are not public
