I have a habit of activating every microwave I see, namely because chances are the person who tossed it down are still in the vicinity, or I want to test my reflexes at dodging an explosion (That's not a joke, either). And if it's a health station, I have health now. I saw someone in SB mention that they got banned for activating the death-station, and I was hoping for clarification on exactly how one would get banned for a Death Station activation.

You should never be banned unless you are a traitor throwing down a deathstation, it's treated like an explosive. If you don't give ample warning and it kills T buddies, get slain kiddo.

If there is a way to prove they knew it was a DS and intentionally got people killed by activating it it would fall under toxic gameplay

When a person knows that it's a death station and still shoots/uses it, making it blow up and RDM multiple terrorists, is a scenario where one would be banned for such. This can also be counted as toxic gameplay.

As I was the one who gave out the ban that sparked this question I feel I should answer it. Under normal circumstances, no it would not be a ban. Note that I had said under normal circumstances. This was considered toxic gameplay due to the fact of the player knowing and not giving a warning for the Death Station. This ended up killing around 5 people and got them banned for it after a couple rounds due to having to get admin discretion since it wasn't RDM. It was toxic gameplay that got them banned for the Death Station blow up. If its a normal game and you dont know its a Death Station and kill a bunch of people then it is completely fine.

But the whole point of the death station is to get people killed. It isn't toxic, it's suppossed to be like that

While that may be true, people sometimes use this as an excuse for killing other people with a death station that they know of.

If an innocent knows of a death station and has the intent of killing as many people as they can because they can, it is toxic gameplay and will be treated as such.

The main thing Scotty was trying to get across by that post was the aspect of discretion. It is not a moderator punishment, you need admin discretion.

I forgot the main portion of the story and for that I apologize. Hyper is correct in the admin discretion part.

The player that was banned was playing as a detective at the time. Thank you for pointing that out to me MythMe.

How does a player "know" that it is a deathstation? Is there an accurate/consistent way to tell the difference? How would you go about proving that? just wondering

We would need to have proof such as them admitting it, watching a traitor place one down, or having a heavy history of killing players in this manner.
