    Hey guys-

So we know there are some differing opinions on the donation rewards. We're working on things, and a major post will be created soon with announcements about that. But enough about that, I want some feedback from anyone willing on a different concept.

I've mentioned this in the initial thread I made about Minecraft a while back that it could be a potential donation item. Anyway, here's how it'd work:

    1) Billy buys a ticket from the store
    2) Billy claims the ticket in-game
    3) Billy activates the ticket
    4) Everyone in-game gets a notification that Billy is the coolest kid ever because he bought a ticket and activated 2x exp for everyone online for the next hour

These tickets would have differing types, but would effect EVERYONE online
    Types:
    - EXP from mobs (those little green orbs)
    - McMMO exp
    - SeriousArena exp
    - Global (all of the above)

Anyway, what are your thoughts on this?

+1 I think it should be a nice global thing, I also like the idea of getting crates or these tickets naturally but randomly too.

There is a similar concept to this on Mineplex. However, on those servers there was an extra incentive to activate the equivalent of a ticket because people could thank you. With each thank you, you would get so and so of in-game currency. If the same thing could be done here, I think this would be a neat addition.

The thank-you system is an interesting idea, though I'm not sure about it because people could thank friends for no reason, or does it give some of their currency?

Either way, people will be able to say "Hell yeah, thank you Billy."

You would only be able to thank friends if they had an active ticket going at the time, and it would make the currency come out of thin air. I'm not sure if something like this would be available with a cooldown or purchased individually each time someone wanted to use it. I was under the assumption that it would be something bought with real money, not a donator perk. It probably wouldn't work all that well if it was a perk.

Here's a better description of the mineplex game amplifiers, which are purchased and single use:

"Game Amplifiers can be activated only in the Waiting Lobby of a specific game by clicking while holding the gem in the hotbar. You are able to activate them in the Amplifier GUI. Then the player who has amplified the game will be shown as NPC on a special podium where players can click it to thank the player. Both will receive 5 Treasure Shards.

When an amplifier is already active, you can still add one, but then they will be added to an amplifier queue.

When activated in any Arcade minigame they will be used for the whole Arcade section."

Gotcha. Well, I suppose that could be possible, yeah. Basically you can thank a user and they get a small amount of money. But I'm not sure how people would feel about it.

Well, wouldn't they be getting some kind of benefit from the ticket being activated? It's not like they aren't getting anything out of it, and if a person is using real money or has donated to allow everyone to have that benefit, I don't think it's unreasonable for them to be given small in-game currency rewards when people 'thank' them for using it.

Whether or not that money came out of that person's personal balance could be up for debate. I think there'd be much less incentive for people to actually thank someone, though, if it had to come from their own money.

    and that violates EULA

Yeah, they'd be getting the same benefit from having the ticket activated. It's not unreasonable to have people thank them, but generating that currency from thin air arguable means people will be getting money for donating (something a lot of people won't like, and as Chai stated EULA breaking).

Then how's about a bonus perk on top of the exp bonus? Say you hit 10 thanks you get 1.2x extra exp on top of the multiplier you paid for?

I'm not very familiar with the EULA, but on mineplex the currency was used to purchase chest that had purely cosmetic items. Would that make it allowed?

Nevertheless, we have a full fledged shop that has much more than cosmetic things, so I guess it wouldn't work out for our server. I still would like more incentive for actually using one of these tickets if they're supposed to be purchased. If they're just a perk with a cooldown, it isn't that big of a deal.

Yeah, it would be nice for the player who actually purchased the ticket to get something for their money so they feel they actually gained something exclusive for it, but I think currency would be out of the question.

Bonus exp would likewise be something that benefits them in ways that is unfair according to Mojang.

No, the thanks and the player getting thanked is EULA friendly. People choose to give it to the player, it is not for money, it is for ingame items, as if I sold a diamond sword and received money for it, except it is for experience for money that is optional.

It's a really gray area, but the way I look at it is like this:
Someone donates and everyone gets $10. Except the donator. The donator gets $10 and a little ticket they can sell for another $10.

I don't think it be in the best interest to do this unless that money was actually given from one user to another. If the money is generated, it's then being given to that person from the server, despite someone else having to say it's okay to do.

  15. Zypther

Yes, the server hands it to the donator, but it is allowed as it is a trade off because the donator is being paid for giving experience to the other players. That is why it works on mineplex.

    Hey irritatingness --

That's a fine donation idea. Would the player buying the ticket receive any individual perks being applied only to them? As much as I like to believe in altruism, I don't know if a universal bonus would be incentive enough to get many players to purchase it. Having individual perks of some sort (perhaps a larger XP bonus) would certainly seem reasonable. Regardless, I think it's a fine idea to incentivize donations.

    Regards.

If this idea is supported enough, we'll see. I've discussed the initial concept (the exp tickets etc) with the Highwon/Disruptionz/Deathbyrussian but I haven't brought this up yet.

I feel the concept is borderline, but enough so for it be okay if correctly done.

Yeah, that's what we're discussing with the thanks system.

Give each rank 1 more per 2 weeks so

    Iron - 1
    Emerald - 2
    Diamond - 3
    Elite - 4

Add this into allowing Elites to pick 2 extra jobs and Diamond having 1 extra job and you can remove all the bullshit perks but only after making it survival

I was thinking about this being a possibility as well, though I imagined it more like this:
    Iron/Emerald: 1
    Diamond/Obsidian: 2
    Elite/Legendary: 3

The lower amounts, and probably a use or lose feature because it'd be a bit insane to always have 2x running simply because so many people would have them. In fact it might be better as a subscription rank service, because it fits that model better. Like so:
    Diamond/Obsidian: 1
    Elite/Legendary: 2

Either way, I don't have the final say on that, it'd need discussion. I'm also not ignoring the rest of your comment, though it's out of scope for the purpose of this thread, there'll be an announcement thread for changes in those regards once they've been hammered out.
