I have not run into a problem regarding this topic before, but since I have, I will make a suggestion. To put a prime example into play, I'll explain the scenario in which I encountered this "unwritten rule". I was proven and healing at a health station that a detective had dropped on my command -- proof he was a competent detective. As I was there, the detective began to shoot someone that was in the group surrounding the health station. The detective ran out of ammo, so I shot and killed the victim. The victim was innocent and I got slain for "Being shot isn't a T act"; although that may be true, the victim wasn't shot by just any player. When an innocent terrorist opens fire on any other player randomly, they are deemed KOS immediately upon first glance. If a detective were to begin firing randomly at another player, you assume there is a valid reason, hence we are not able to kill a detective for shooting another player unless we are a traitor. With you not being able to kill a detective for killing other players, it is implied they are trusted and do not have to explain their actions. If a detective opens fire on another player, it should be nothing less than an instant reaction to help out the only known innocent player.

It is known not all detectives, or any players are reliable when it comes to knowing the basics of TTT or the server rules in general. With that being said, it is impossible to know whether or not a detective is just flat out RDM'ing or they have a viable reason -- but that is not up to us. Our role on the server is to play the game without considering the "what if's" that staff is there to take care of.

Now, what I wish to accomplish by this suggestion is to get a rule added. Whether it be a rule along the lines of "Getting shot by a detective does not make someone KOS.", or "A player being shot by a detective is KOS'd to your discretion." If neither of these rules is implemented in the general or extended rules, it should be more obvious of this unwritten rule. You cannot expect players to be conscious of a rule then slay them for it when they show ignorance towards it.

Was the person that detective was shooting at shooting back at detective? When detectives start to shoot at an innocent person, the person will most likely try to run away or convince the detective that they are innocent, rather than shooting back. I'd just stick to general rule, shooting at people is a T act (especially detectives), and you may kill kosed players.

While I understand your suggestion its not really an unwritten rule as being shot by a detective isn't in the traitorous acts section of the motd therefore you shouldn't think that it is a traitorous act, however if he had shot back at the detective that would of been a different story.

What if the detective got DNA from a traitor body which led to an inno , this is rdm because he should have payed attention to where he was getting DNA from.. so, now how fair is it that this detective rdms someone and you help the detective rdm? Not fair stall really they didn't do anything to you

Sometimes newer players like to think detectives have authority and can kill people for things like using a health station without being proven, again that detective would be rdming and you would be assisting that rdm, unfair

I think it's fine as it is, like spite said it's not a traitorous act to be shot so common sense on the players part is needed as always and adding a special ruling would mean using case by case scenarios which just means more work for everyone involved like how would we handle the det rdming and you helping? Etc

I really didn’t want to have to reply to my own thread, but it seems you guys don’t understand my point. It seems you all think I’m demanding a rule that allows you to kill people shot by a detective. I’m simply stating that a rule should be implied that specifies whether or not you can kill someone for being shot by a detective. The current rule apparently is “Being shot isn’t a traitorous act”, but should be specified directly towards detectives. In short, add or edit a rule that explains this better so there are no future occurrences of the same scenario. A rule as simple as “Being shot by a detective does not make you KOS.”

If we list everything that isn't a T-act the rules will be a mile long

That’s fine, but if people are going to be disciplined by such rules, it should not jump to a slay; perhaps a warn instead.

If it's not listed as a Traitorous Act, you can't kill for it. It is technically there by omission from the traitorous acts.

Also, you should search before making a suggestion. This hasn't been suggested in a while, but it has been suggested before.

From personal experience, it is kind of mod discretion. I've been slain for it and not been slain for it. It just depends if you were doing it because the detective said 'I have dna on ____' or if they just start shooting and you join in. I'm just gonna -1

There is no exceptions, bad adult if you didn't get slain for it the mod did wrong as I said they can be following bad dna

It doesn't matter if they are following bad dna if the detective says the magic "KOS" or the other player starts shooting back at the detective

please quote the part from bad adult where he says anything about a kos? "i have dna on" isnt a valid kos

So, if a detective literally starts shooting someone saying 'i have dna' that's not a Kos?

Correct. A KOS must explicitly express, in a single text or voice transmission, that someone is a Traitor, or that they should be killed.

So you can only say 'kos boomer' or 'boomer is the traitor?'

No, you can also say "Hey, kill Bad Adult!" "Someone needs to kill Bad Adult right now!" "I have Bad Adult's DNA, KILL HIM!"

    Ok thank
