https://www.seriousgmod.com/threads/report-against-mrunknownshadow.56827/ Recent report: guy gets 5 day ban because he was complaining about a guy calling him slurs. Look at the report for yourself. I think being able to discuss a staff member fucking up without commenting on a report is important. Should he be banned? Unbanned? Thoughts?
Only thing that seems unfair about that report is the mod going straight to a kick because the person said a slur a second time before they warned them, the only time I've seen that be the case is on forum reports (though those cases were straight to ban). I've seen people scream the n word in voice a dozen times and get gagged to stop it and still only get warned when they hadn't been warned before.
Like iii said I think they should've been just warned for the first two slurs before being kicked and warned at the same time for the second. It isn't the banned person's fault that Unknown was slow/dealing with other stuff that took priority. In addition to this, I don't think the slur in the in-game report should count at all. It is a private report between the person using the slurs, the victim, and the staff member - that should be completely allowed. If they had just said in the report "keeps calling me slurs" that could even mean retard, etc, which by SGM's rules are almost always totally fine. Of course though, the guy likely did deserve the ban, especially since they had history - just the way the ban came to be seems pretty wrong to me. Overall, in my opinion slurs used in context, ESPECIALLY in private, should be allowed. Eg, "lordyhgm called me <slur>" should be totally fine if said in a private conversation between me and a staff member. Don't see why this isn't already the case.
Banned. Slurs aren't allowed and he was just using someone saying it in order to use the term over and over again. Slurs aren't allowed in reports either. He could have just said "Player keeps calling me a slur" and only clarified which slur if staffed asked him, most likely would have happened in on. And is he really that offended considering his last appeal was him calling people sa*d n*****s? I do agree that the warning should have been faster though. since the time between uses without a warning was due to the mod not paying attention and not due to the player spamming it too fast, there should have been another use before the kick.
Personally I think if a mod isn't able to get to a warning before a second offense happens, unless it's incredibly egregious (we've all seen the people who think spamming a slur 30 times in one line is a pro gamer move) I'm treating them both like a first offense. In this case he does have an extensive slur history so I can understand why things went the way they did. There's a reason an admin gave discretion for an extended ban. Slurs have never been allowed in reports, if you have something to say to admins that's what the @ chat is for. I don't see any reason for that to change. I probably would have personally advocated for him to be unbanned under the circumstances of the 1st/2nd offense thing if not for the fact he started using slurs both on his forum report and in discord while attacking shadow directly. At that point he's just openly disregarding the rules for the memes.
tbh i dont really give a fuck because jose is toxic af, plus the report reads as an obvious troll not to mention he said f*g in the report...
Considering his toxic past, I can understand why you guys think the ban was valid. But he was warned for showing what the guy said to him. I think thats fucked up. Plus 5 days is a bit much, let alone a ban.
He was warned once in-game and then banned for using slurs... He knows not to use slurs, and he was rightfully banned for using them.
