  1. Okay, so, I've been playing Serious TTT again quite a bit, even busted out a quick twenty bucks for VIP status, 'lovin the fancy purple label. But, can't help but feel some serious changes are needed, and instead of griping about them to other players, I've finally decided to go ahead and list them here in the hopes someone will at least look at them and nod before returning to their daily schedule of rolling their eyes at RDM reports and attempting to eat their keyboard in a fit of rage over how incompetent some players can be when it comes to basic rule-following.

    1. There seriously needs to be a "Forgive" system for reports. Mods are great, but they can't be everywhere at once. So sometimes, a player gets stuck with a RDM report, and sometimes, that report is even rendered invalid by the two players involved simply talking over the situation. It may not be the mod's fault that a report-happy player will instantly jump to the "RDM conclusion" in a tricky scenario, only to find out they were in the wrong, but it doesn't change the fact that there should be a system in place for a player to retract a report they've placed on someone, especially when mods are absent for sometimes a few hours at a time.

    2. People need to get points more often. I know you guys need to make money, everyone does, it's just the beauty of good old-fashioned capitalism, so I get why upgrades cost less when people break out the the big money for VIP passes. Even with reduced costs, however, that shit still costs a lot, so it'd be really appreciated if point income amounted to more than just 10 points every 5 minutes. Maybe something skill-based! Like, idk, 50 points for winning a round, or 50 points for most kills as a T or most T kills as a detective. Maybe even daily achievements like getting 100 points for getting 100 headshots or some shit, like in Halo: Reach? You guys remember Halo: Reach? Decent game, probably the best Halo I've played, shame the community is dead.

    3. Fun rounds need to happen more often. I love the fun rounds, personally, but I'd love them more if they occurred more than once an eon. But, I get some people don't like them, and that's totally fair, they kinda disrupt the flow a bit. But, I think this will help: Even if you don't want to increase the default frequency (which, personally, I think you should), maybe implement a system for players to vote to hold a fun round next round, similar to the RTV system. And, furthermore, implement a system for players to vote on just which fun round they'd like to have. For example, I'd likely want to vote more for fun shit like Reapers, Team Deathmatch or Hidden as opposed to [MY PERSONAL OPINION INCOMING] click-happy nonsensical garbage like Harpoon Wars or Headshot Wars. And again, that's just me, and other people may vote otherwise, and that right there is the beauty of using a democratic system as opposed to a randomized system: people get what they want.

    4. This next request is probably unlikely, but I feel like some of the weapons could potentially be rebalanced, since some seem miles better than others. I can't name specifics right now, but if I had the time and willing test subjects, I could probably compile a list of weapons that need either nerfing or buffing. Off the top of my head, the AK seems a bit much. And don't even get me started on the Double Barrel. Fuck the Double Barrel.

That's all, just wanted to make my suggestions publically known. If you don't like them, that's cool, just figured I'd at least try. Have a good day.

  2. Also, just saw the "one suggestion per post" rule, so my bad about that, but realistically, this is probably better than me spam-posting and making four different threads in the span of two minutes.

I liked the "Report forgiveness" Sometime people report and they want to forgive of what they done. Some server has this, but this server doesn't.

    1. We do not have a forgive option due to the fact we must be fair to all players and prevent future RDMs. If a player believes they can just get away with RDM if they get their victim to forgive, they're not learning their lesson. The goal is to not RDM at all.

    2. 10 points every 5 minutes seems like a small amount, however I have had no problem with it over the 3 years I've been playing here. The upgrades are for regulars who play often, not for just anyone who joins the server. The discounts are also a primary reason that people donate, so increasing the amount of points you can earn decreases the incentive to donate.

    3. This was actually suggested recently. As I said there,
    4. I use the AK and still manage to be put down relatively easy by an HK or shotgun. It's not OP or I'd be able to get more kills with less skill. The DB has been nerfed in the past from two shots per mag to one, however it is still fun to use -- though not so much fun to die to. Just avoid people with the DB. Other guns can be countered with skill, luck, and common sense

  6. 1. The point of a forgive system is to save a player when they didn't actually commit RDM, and do you honestly think anyone has the guile necessary to RDM all they want and just charm the report-happy Serious TTT community into always forgiving them? I severely doubt it.
    2. The point was, even with the upgrades, it still takes too long, but whatever, this point is fine enough.
    3. If people only pick the most popular fun rounds...that's sort of the point. If people don't want to do a particular fun round, maybe that's a sign you should just plain get rid of it.
    4. This point is fine.

  7. I guess the veterans have just gotten used to dealing with a lack of change, then. Sad.

If the player "didn't actually commit RDM", what is the victim forgiving them for? RDM is RDM, and you will be slain regardless of if the person forgives you or not. It's not gonna happen. Sorry.

Variety is the spice of life. While you may not enjoy it, others might. Voting may not be fair to those who enjoy the less popular fun rounds, so randomizing it is the way to go

  9. 1. You're not serious. Okay, example time. Player A warns that a grenade is being thrown, Player B does not notice warning, gets killed, reports. Another one. Player A follows a KOS on Player B that Player B does not notice, Player B reports. There are countless examples of false RDM reports that could easily be done away with and forgiven, and you did not at all address the fact that I pointed out it would be very difficult if not impossible to abuse a forgiveness system.
    2. That's democracy, the majority have more rights than the minority. And besides, if there is a hard stance against fun round voting, why are we allowed to vote for maps? That's just blatant hypocrisy.

    1. Forgiving reports has been endlessly discussed in SGM, both within the administration and with the community as a whole. We even had a test run of it a while ago. The ultimate result, unfortunately, is that the disadvantages outweigh the benefits.
When do we forgive? When do we not? Are we forced to dismiss a report if the player forgives it? If so, can people just do whatever they want and get away wit hit? And if not, when is it appropriate to step in and dismiss it? What about new players? Veterans? Trouble makers? Should we treat them all as equal? Or should we go via our experience with them? Would that be fair? What if the player regrets it? What if they report us for not handling something that should've been handled? What if one staff member knows the player well enough to know he's not a trouble maker, while another staff member meets him for the first time? Will that result in two different actions for the same report? Is this okay?
These are all questions that constantly come up with the forgiveness policy. There just isn't a way to balance this fairly enough. Our current policy is working well and proved itself for many years so far.

    2. This was also discussed in the past. We actually had (and still have) multiple ideas on how to improve this area without devaluing the points system as a whole. However, when you look at the actual point data from the servers, you see that active players actually earn an impressive amount of points. I did a quick analysis a while ago and found out that players are fairly rewarded for their activity, even if it might not look exactly like it sometimes. I even had an excel table with example cases and all the values, I might still have it somewhere on my drive.
Still, like I said, we're constantly looking into ways to improve this area, because we know it's a pain point for a lot of players.

    3. Fun round chances are already in a good place imo. Looking at the big picture (again, actual data from the servers), fun rounds happen at about 1/3 of the maps in average. I believe the main reason people think they don't happen too often is because they are restricted to only once in a map - and maps tend to be long in our servers. So it feels like ages until the next fun round arrives, even though the chances are pretty high. That's a problem much deeper than just changing a value. This is about round times in general and how long maps can take.
As for voting, this thread explains it well. In short, we will end up having only two or three fun rounds always chosen, while the rest will be ignored. Now, you can say "well, if the majority votes for them, then the majority wants them!". That is true, of course, but not the whole picture. The fact that people favor a specific fun round doesn't mean they won't enjoy the others too. If you need to vote for only one fun round, you'll obviously choose your favorite, but what if you enjoy both Harpoon wars AND gun game? You'll have no problem playing either, but if you're forced to pick one of them, you'll miss the other one completely. Also, even if the majority chooses a specific round, there are always those who won't enjoy it. Should we completely bar them from ever playing what they like?

    4. Weapon balancing is actually being looked into recently. I can't tell much yet, but we're working on that. Stay tuned.

  11. See, while I semi-disagree with some of this, I like it a lot more, because it's structured and informative, so thanks for that. I guess that's fine regarding points, then, but I still feel a simple 50-point reward for round wins wouldn't be too OP, but I guess you'd have to do a trial run to see that for sure. Thank you for looking into weapon balance, that's good to hear. And, sure, I guess I can understand the logistics regarding fun round frequency, then, but I still feel personally that a democratic approach is best, hence my desire for a vote system. After all, isn't a little hypocritical to allow map selection but not fun round selection? By this logic, why not just also have map selection be always randomized? All or nothing, essentially.

Overall, though, great points, and I'm glad someone finally sat down and talked actual logic and looked at the suggestions fairly. Thanks again.

    1. There seriously needs to be a "Forgive" system for reports. Admins* are great, but they can't be everywhere at once.
This should be implanted, or at least that mods, can forgive instead of having a admin to get online, to forgive a crowbar punch...

    2. People need to get points more often.
Disagree with this, It needs a lot of points to get there, but on the other hand, there are lottery's and a lot of give-away points. So there is a lot of points moving around from player to player.

    3. Fun rounds need to happen more often. I love the fun rounds, personally, but I'd love them more if they occurred more than once an eon.
Well, they happen each map once, or in some cases 2 in 1 map and none in the next.

    4. This next request is probably unlikely, but I feel like some of the weapons could potentially be rebalanced.
Well, I've seen the AK kill in seconds while the m16 can take minutes to kill >.<

When you've put 2000 hours into one server because you like the way that server runs you'd be pretty pissed too if all the sudden they decided to nerf your favorite weapon, make it harder to get points from the pointshop and give more fun rounds that you honestly don't give a fuck about but play every now and again as a sweet gimmick. It's not that we don't want change, it's just that we don't want that change to destroy something we care about so passionately, even if we don't play anymore.

These "veterans" you've just slighted are not the reason why the rules aren't changing, it's the majority of the community that does this. It's furthermore the rules we've put into place and the goals we have in mind and these suggestions you desperately want enough to take a jab at the users who've seen these suggestions before, play by the culture set by the leadership, and are more versed than you in these issues is the last thing that'll help your cause. They're giving you their views to assist your suggestions whether it's in improvement or informing you "this has been suggested countless times in the past since likely 2013, and it's not something the community as a whole needs or wants."

-1 for all of them. I believe the best suggestion in this thread is to add a "no change" option to your poll.

Neither of these examples are RDM, and a mod still needs to look into these kinds of things regardless of if the player wants to cancel their report or not.

It's not hypocrisy. I had no decision that led to voting for maps. It has been around since the server was created. I have a choice to say that we should not vote for fun rounds, however, so I will.
Fact is that players will continuously pick the most popular fun rounds, so I prefer the randomization. Thanks

    FYI: This is my opinion
Firstly before I start, thanks for suggesting.

    1. Imagine this scenario : Player A and Player B are friends they RDM each other every round, they also place a report every round they RDM, after he/she sends a message to the staff "@ I forgive him" and he/she will be forgiven and they end up doing the same thing next round.

Now our staff are competent but sometimes the staff can be busy with handling multiple reports at the time and by the trolling of Player A and B this will only make it harder for them. How it is at the moment is for the best in my own opinion.

    2. By making points easier to get this will make the upgrades easier to get, this will make the use of points less important and less activity on the server as a whole. Changes to the point I would love to see but in small amounts, also as Tedelicious said in his own opinion point giveaways and lotteries aren't there for no reason. Also as Opalium mentioned players that have high activity on the SGM server are awarded nicely.

    3. This I totally disagree, 1 fun round should be enough for each map, this would decrease the TTT experience if more than 1 fun round would be implemented.
Voting on fun rounds.... no reason being people like voting for their favourites and most likely it will be the same 3 fun rounds every time, this will make the other fun round unplayable which other players would wish to play. Playing the fun rounds that most of the server wants is self fish.

    4. Yes, some weapons might need some small tweaks here and there but I disagree with a nerf on the Ak reason being that I've had many times dying with the gun 1 on 1, sometimes almost missing whole clips. Double barrel has it's weakness too, if you miss you have a pretty high chance of dying by the guy you attempted to kill.

    Thanks for reading.
And a good day to you too :3
