I think weight would make it more interesting. It would make it so you'd have to choose a set of items to keep, and then drop the useless ones. Kind of like Fallout4.
You can't take any item you so please, if you want something you have to upgrade your backpack, or drop stuff :p

First of all, what player base are you aiming for? What style are you going for? Is this kid friendly game? I don't care but want to make a game.

    Ask yourself basic questions first.
Is this going be free or paid.
Should be surreal survival or fantasy survival.
What player base am I going to attract.
How should I maintain and update over the years or built to a specific point.
    Complex or simple game.

I've already thought of this. I've worked on many projects and experiments. I'll answer some questions though. This is a free game, because someone has already made this game, but never updated it. I have created anti-cheat mechanics and such to improve it. I am also going to fix many bugs, and add new stuff. Honestly all games are a fantasy to me, but I was aiming to make it somewhat realistic. Update over the years? I am going to update whenever a bug happens, an idea pops into my head, or just whenever people want more content. But build the game over the years, think minecraft, development never ends.

As for player base, I want to make it clear that I want to make this game fun and enjoyable for everyone. If you are an immature kid, who is spoiled and picky, well you might not like it. But there's plenty of mature people out there, and a lot of people who are mature that enjoy the survival genre are going to indeed like this game ( in my opinion. ) It's a classic adventure arcade but based on realism survival game.

To anyone making a game out there "I don't care, but I want to make a game" don't expect many people to play a game like that. I've done many, and they were by no means intended to be hits, but they're really not fun in my opinion. I just wanted experience when I did it. It's a good attitude to get to know your engine, experiment on game mechanics, learn how to script, solve problems, debug, level design, modeling, and more.

I have also plans to release a game next year when I get time on the 2D game engine "Love" It's going to be the same as this game right here, but 2D, for people who like 2D games. (Also this version(2D) is not expected to be played. It's a I don't care, I want a 2d game. I just want to mess around. I've used love before, but not for a major project.

I expected this. :) Do what you love just have some sense of structure in mind.

I have created multiple games before but none too exciting. I usually go and hit one point and finish it off there. I've never bother to go forwards but to archive the game for reference and start anew.

Should go slots first since it is easier to start out with. Once you go through with the weighting system you can implement that later. Have a basis to start off with.

Yeah honestly I don't expect this to be a hit. It's probably going to be as fun as Unturned.

I've made a realistic human/gun shot game, all humans had their own organs, and I made the body need these organs, and these organs operate like real ones, based on research on the internet. Project lost in HDD crash.

Space physics was done, didn't make it that realistic, just tried it a little bit, was good though. Project lost in HDD crash.

Wanted to remake GTA V, but never finished, project terminated.

Remade a laptop running my own version of OS (a laptop with an OS in a game.. lmao) worked nicely, but never got any applications on it. Project lost in HDD crash.

Worked on random generated terrain, finished, project terminated until further notice.

@SavannahBananaGaming said "poop" when I asked what I should make for a game. I made a pooping simulator. No effort was actually put into the project

Coded 1990s windows 1 text interactive text story applications.

Worked on a media/mp3 player, project lost in HDD crash.

It's also worth mentioning I made a calculator, but that's easy.
