Reason For Report:

I was being an idiot in pre round with prop throwing, I threw a barrel at another player (Dudewrath_Exalted). It didn't damage him at first, but it did roughly 15 damage when the round started.
I apologized as soon as I saw it had done damage but he didn't hear me. He was miffed, and started shooting me, I returned fire, killing him.
Other players saw the event, and killed me.
We spoke in spectate, I told him I apologized and everything went well and good. Neither of us were angry with one another.
Mr. Rogers then reported me, with a false damage log saying I attacked this player with a prop for 100 damages.
Yes.. "DamageS"
A few things wrong with that...
A. If I had damaged him for 100, he would have been dead. Given he fired upon me, that's simply not true.
B. Yeah.. he misspelled damage.

I gave my side of the argument, however he carried out the slay without a moment to discuss it. All the while both the other player involved and I were complaining to Mr. Rodger to remove the slay. After I had been slain, I began messaging Muffin, the admin on the server to take care of the issue.
He shrugged it off, saying he did nothing wrong. I strongly disagree.. I feel it's a false report.
I left the server, and was banned for 5 days for "rdm and leave", though no rdming had actually occurred by anyone other than Mr. Rogers.

Needless to say, Muffin is not the main focus of this report, but I feel his poor action on the situation deserves citation.


People want to maintain quality servers with quality staff.. but taking the reports out of the players hand is not the way to accomplish that. The report function is present for a reason. I'm not here to make more work for anyone, or to just shit on mods/admins.
I liked the server. Hell, it's my favorite. I don't want to leave it because the moderators take justice into their own hands when it need not be.
I hope this gets addressed, and I'd be happy to come back to the server. I simply can't if rules are held above quality gameplay for the users.​

I feel the thread was very one sided, and was closed before I could even offer a rebuttal.
It's also hard to feel like I've gotten an honest, unbiased reply from all mods/vips.

Sorry for all of the links, but this is the conversation we had immediately after this valid slay was placed on you. Basically, you damaged someone with a prop, they forgave you, but as I explained to you, only Administrators+ may bend protocol to issue alternate punishments.

You then basically went on a tangent about how to be a good staff member, how not to make problems where it's unnecessary, how you were now considered an "RDM and Leaver" or something like that, and our server is now on your blacklist. Due to this and your recent run-in's with other members of the staff team, I went ahead and issued a 4 week global ban on the grounds that you knew what you were doing was breaking the rules and would warrant a ban, yet you did it anyway.

As Guilty said, the Lead's will handle this when they have time, and Rogers will give his side as soon as possible.

See, that's the problem. No punishment was necessary whatsoever. It started over something menial, and was elevated due to poor moderation.
This is a video game server, get out of here with "protocol" nonsense.
Is it protocol to announce your dominion over all other players? Report them because the other person thought it was too stupid to report? Sounds to me like someone just wanted to slay someone, and you're defending him.
The problem is mods creating issues they're supposed to be solving!
Please enlighten me with these other "run ins with staff".

This is the exact reason I blacklisted the server. You people hold rules above quality of the server. What is with this robotic mindset? I'd like to reiterate. THIS. IS. A. GAME.

Hello Fate Wuluf, as you go by in game.

What happened to you is very textbook. I was viewing the damagelogs for the current round and noticed that you had prop damaged somebody for no reason right when the round began, I then questioned you about it via the report system, and you claimed it was an accident. In our community as far as Moderators are concerned, Accidental RDM is still RDM and there's no way around it. Given I could have asked for discretion not to slay from an Administrator, I decided not to due to your ban history. Even in this case where both parties worked out the situation themselves, as a Moderator I follow strict protocol and am not allowed to give leniency in any situation.

Note: The reason you see both "100 damage" and "25 damage" is that our damagelog system multiplies prop damage. Meaning this is not the actual damage that was done, but damage was done regardless.

After this whole ordeal, you admit that you left the server in rage and that caused me to ban you for RDM and Leave. My Administrator Muffin then decided to Globalize and Extend the ban for the reasons he just provided, and the reasons provided in the ban.

As previously stated, one of the Lead Administrators will view this report and determine its verdict.

 

According to the rules of our servers, you RDM'ed another player. Rogers nor myself felt like it was a situation where protocol should have been altered, so it wasn't. Looking at it this way, there was no poor moderation here. In fact, Roger's actions were spot on.

You also say that we hold rules over the quality of the server. I would argue that enforcing the rules is what makes our server quality to begin with, at least for the majority of the people who have no issues following those rules.

You ask if it was protocol to issue an extra long ban, and indeed it was not. As an Administrator, I hold the right to extend/shorten punishments based on my own discretion, as I've already explained to you a couple of times. You have been banned a couple of times previously for the likes of Mass RDM and Toxic Behavior. Seeing this, I took note of how you told me you had an intention to leave the server knowing you'd be banned for it, and sure enough, you did. I felt 5 days for a first offence of RDM and LEAVE along with the other bans I mentioned was insufficient, so I made it 4 weeks across all of our servers.

Hope this clears up any confusion.

 

Allow me to just ask you one question.
Do you feel, given the actions taken, that a situation was avoided, or created?

The alternatives would have been.
A. We all go merrily about our day and enjoy a nice few games of TTT
or.
B. This. Someone was slain that neither parties wanted done, and it ended with BOTH of us creating an account here, just to complain.

I do recall those past bans. (I server hop a lot you see). All of those events were also because of terrible admins.

Hey @FAHK YHU M8, welcome to Serious GMOD. Thank you for filing a report against two of the staff members on our staff team.

The problem that I see that you're depicting is that we're being staff members. We're following strict protocol with our rulebook, and we like to enforce rules so that everyone has a good time. When someone bends/breaks the rules, they have to be punished for their actions. We currently do not allow RDM to be "forgiven" when a moderator is handling a situation, but as @Muffin already stated, Administrators+ can choose to use discretion and not follow protocol. In this situation, such an action was not taken and you were slain for a reasonable cause. 15 minutes of your time here were now left in the death screen. I am sorry for any emotional scarring.

Yes, this is a video game, and yes, there's no need to be uptight. However, to make this game enjoyable and fun for everyone, we have to establish rules, and follow them very strictly. It's been working so far; we're a pretty popular server, and players return here due to our extensive rulebook and our enforcing abilities of said rulebook. If you do not like the way we handle the rules, you are free to join any other TTT server in the world. I won't stop you.

Someone who consistently blames other people and doesn't look at their own faults is someone who gets in trouble a lot of the time. I would recommend you look upon yourself to see what the issues with your previous bans are, because if all of our admins were terrible, we would be a lackluster community filled with valid reports against our staff members. Remember that we always think of the player first before anything else!

You blacklisting our servers isn't a threat, nor do I really care, to be honest. No one in this server gets special treatment. Just because you don't "like the rules" doesn't mean that you can break them. Your bans in their entirety were justified, and we'll be seeing you back in a few weeks. Take this time away to think about how you can be a better person, player, and member of our Serious GMOD community.
