That's fake. Background checks are still required on all those gun sales. If they're trying to say "Oh I'm selling to my friend!" and they're caught lying (Which they will be, as nobody will sell to 50 friends in a single weekend), they will face serious prison time.

Then who's to say who is fit to wield a firearm? Is someone with mild depression going to be prevented from defending their home because their therapists doesn't think they should own a gun? That's not really too good of an idea, especially considering how little trust you can put into some therapists (the ones who you tell you're feeling like you've hit a brick wall, and nothing really matters because you're having one bad day, so they decide to put you in a mental ward of a hospital for a weekend. You weren't ever suicidal, but the therapist misread you so). This is iffy.

Now that's just scary. If the government were to become super tyrannical, they could very easily find everyone who has a gun and take them out first. Too spooky for me.

So the actual reason why trans folk in the military (at least infantry / ground forces) is because, how do you train them? Like, if a male (biological) who identifies as a female, by which standard of training are they to be held? If they are trained like a female, then they're a waste of 'manpower' as they are not trained to the fullest of their physical capabilities. On the other side, if a female is identifying as a male, then s(he) is going to be pushed beyond their physical limitations, as the military expects 20 +/- % more physical performance from males than females, based on legitimate sciences.

There are also the social issues. Are there going to be problems in the showers and dorms, is it going to be SAFE for them to be there (Yes, it is the fault of the bullies / bigots who harass them, but should they even be put into the situation to begin with?) they will particularly be in severe danger when trans people are deployed into foreign, less tolerant nations, where their very existence is a crime.

Service in the military is not a right, it's a privilege. Right now in America, trans people are the most privileged group of people alive. They basically have political and social immunity, and generally, they show their privilege with flying colors hahgotem.

I am completely down with letting trans people serve in the Air Force, Navy, Army as technicians and generally non-combat situations, because of their physical issues.

First, the gun show loophole does exist. Yeah, some private sellers will do background checks to cover their asses, but they aren't required to. This is just a matter of law, I am not even sure how you can say it is false? What I meant was an extension of background checks to private sales as well. Speaking of which, I intend to buy a few handguns as I have a personal interest in them, but I am pretty sure I have to get a CPL first. I kind of think you should require some level of training when you buy a rifle, but that is just me. Someone with mild depression is more likely to shoot themselves then they are to shoot an attacker coming into their house. I'm not necessarily too invested in the idea of a therapist having to write a note for the reason you specified (not every therapist is a white knight) so yeah, but i'm generally interested in the thought of it and how it could be implemented.

Second, why are you so afraid that the government will become tyrannical? Then, if the government did become tyrannical, you would be up against the most well equip army in the world. Do you really think having a few rifles are going to put you on even ground with a fucking tank? With a fucking drone? I always interpreted the 2nd amendment to mean protection against outside invaders. OF course, back in the 1700's you had enemies on all sides: Great Britain to the north, Spain to the south and the French to the west. These countries oftentimes didn't recognize the sovereignty of the United States at the time. Now, the 2nd amendment is a box of worms because it can be interpreted in so many ways. The framers left it open to interpretation, but it can be argued that they lived in a time where guns were such a minor problem. A person with a musket was not as dangerous as a man with an AR (not to say Ar's are the devil or anything). Honestly, if you are afraid of the government then you live in a very different world than I do. I'm not going to sit here and give the government praise, it works very inefficiently on many different things and they have trampled on our freedoms many a time, but I find the odds of a tyrannical government forming to be very slim. Also, the whole defense argument is kind of funny to me. If someone breaks into your house, chances are they just want your shit. I doubt highly they want to rape and murder your family. Do you think it would be more dangerous if you had a gun as well? Wouldn't that make the thief more likely to become jumpy and preemptively strike? Just food for thought. Having a gun for self defense is A-ok with me.

I don't need to provide proof for the training points I made; those are literally common knowledge at this point. The military trains men and women different but expects to get the best performance from each individual; a unit is only as strong as it's weakest soldier. It is a bad investment to expect a woman to march 15-20 miles a day with a group of men.

And, literally in America if you say anything in disagreement with trans people you get denounced and/or fired from your job if you're working in media. Again, common knowledge. I'd say you'd train them using the standards of whatever they are biologically, right? I mean, obviously not if they are taking hormones to transition or whatever, but if they are literally transitioning at the moment, then that just means that they are in no physical shape to be in the military in the first place.
Or are they? Let's say a male is transitioning to female, does that make them physically inbetween male and female? And is it really that much of a problem if one person's kinda worse? I mean, teachers have to teach classes all the time when there students have different levels of proficiency, and that always seems to work somehow. This seems really complicated, though. Does anyone have an answer for this? How do they get trained?

Interesting. How does this even work with public bathrooms in general? Where does a m>f trans person go? What about a person who isn't physically transitioned in any way, but is just a woman in a man's body?

 

Who is going to pay for their transitional medication? The taxpayers will. If they're in the military, the military will have to accommodate them, and taxpayer dollars pay for the military's expenses. I am not going to give my tax dollars to that. Sorry.

I'm pretty sure when it comes to gender dysphoria (the mental illness) that transitioning is one of the cures. Not too well knowledgeable about it though.

I'm pretty sure the idea here is that they just choose to go into whatever bathroom they identify as? I think it varies. One of the concerns being brought up is that men will trans to female just so they can go into a female bathroom to rape women. I would normally be all for that argument, if bathrooms were secure in the first place...

I mean, what is to stop me from walking into the female bathroom and raping a woman if I am just a man? I don't know. I tried to look up information on how they train them, but there doesn't seem to be all that much out there.
