I used to play RCT3 (Roller Coaster Tycoon) a bunch when I was younger and I always made myself a goal to construct Six Flags Magic Mountain in its entirety, but the game had so many limitations and that made it nearly impossible to make the park as good as I wanted it to be. So for years I settled with the fact I couldn't take it on any further. Just recently a game has arisen out of its Beta and shown itself worthy to my me, and it's called Planet Coaster. From the same production as RCT3 Frontier Developments has put together one of the best Theme Park role-playing game I've ever laid my eyes upon. I've been spending so much time getting my project back on track in a big new way. I completely recommend this game for anyone whose interested in creating their own theme park and possibly recreating some theme parks currently out there. It's a very enjoyable game and for me the fun never ends. I'll share my progress in this thread as my project moves ahead. And if you own the game and feel like sharing some of your projects I would be very interested to see what you all got to show!
When I heard about this game earlier this year I cried. When I saw just how fucking beautiful this game is I died. Now I just need to pray to all the gods that my shitty ass laptop can somewhat handle this game on the lowest settings possible. #Pray4Me Stoney I can't wait to see your final product! Also @Carned that looks absolutely gorgeous
I was a big fan of RCT3 as I played it all the time on my iPad trying to create some wacky rides and crazy theme parks. In all honesty I had no idea this game came out/was coming out. First time I saw its cover was on Twitch but I just thought it was a rip off of RCT3, now that I clicked on this thread I've come to realise how beautiful it looks, it's a shame my laptop can't run it.. #RIPCiibear
Dontcha just hate it when you live in RCT then whenever you say RCT people think of a video game? Rhondda Cynon Taff = RCT
I'm not really the person that would impulsively buy a game. Generally, I check out tons of reviews, watch videos and carefully outweigh my choices (price, content, updates, ...). For some reason this game was an exception. I grew up with RCT (the game, not Rhonnda Cynon Taff) and to see what an abomination it has become now with RCT World breaks my heart. So I was thrilled to see Frontier's name on Planet Coaster. Bought it, haven't regretted a single second.
REALLY hoping my surface can handle this game when I get it because it's just too beautiful to not buy
This game looks really interesting. I've not played any like it but I can't convince myself that it looks fun. Is it?
Depends on what's fun to you. This is a sim kind of game. It's very technical as well. Guests who visit your park will judge it on scenery, amount of space your pathways use, how long they have to wait in line, if a ride is too scary they won't ride it, etc. Another great feature is that there's really no limits when it comes to construction. You can really do whatever you want. I'd say if you're willing to put time and effort into a game like this to end up with something marvelous and beautiful, go for it. The forums for the game are really nice too, fixing bugs and taking ideas and implementing them as they can in updates. It's all up to you though.
More Progress! Pathway to Tatsu and Skytower is done! Also did some terrain work around Tatsu. At this point it may take me about 6-7 months to 100% complete, but I'm up for it
Had to touch up Tatsu cause I realized the track wasn't distanced/measured correctly, but now it is 99% to the real thing.
Finally decided to get this game, spent the first hour just building a castle Spoiler rip just noticed that random wall Spoiler Spoiler Spoiler
Sad news, I had to completely re-do the entire park over again. But the good news is, is that progress is booming and I'm past the point I was before I restarted the construction. I'll give you a before and after example of what went wrong. So what was wrong, was that the distance from the rides was horrible. Much so that it ruined the whole layout of major areas of the park, and I wasn't tolerating this mistake at all. So I decided to just start all over again. Took me a while to get back to where I left off, but I don't regret a damn thing. I'll keep you guys updated on my progress as I have been! BEFORE: AFTER:
