shotguns deal way to much damage, so either nerf them or buff all the other weapons. This issue is existing for a long time, but nothing was done.
I mean the shotgun isn't that great at range because of how hitreg is in gmod so the only time you really will think it's op is in close combat. You can stand in mid range and barely hit anything sometimes. And yes it's strong at close range but it's also a shotgun so it makes sense that it is good. It isn't really that op.
Shotgun + GMod Hitboxes = Not OP. Its literally lady luck if you manage to kill a person with one shot or 3.
The only shotgun I know that can be considered OP is the double barrel. But even then you can't buy it or have it as a loadout.
Every gun is OP if you know how to use them. (The only weak weapons in my opinion are H.U.G.E, pistol and glock)
Agreed. I rarely use the shotgun but when i do it is clearly the best gun in the game, especially on vanilla. The shotgun needs a nerf

Shotgun is fine. Most of the time its a two shot, but within that time you can easily headshot the person using the shotgun before he shoots again
The only infuriating moment with the shotgun is when they manage a one shot. That always grinds my gears, but the shotgun is fine where it is. I always thought that on Vanilla they should bring some guns up to the level of the shotgun to balance the game, instead of bringing the shotgun down to the other guns. I mean, the shotgun is fun to use on vanilla and the other guns aren't haha.
I think really only one change is needed and that is to maybe lower its fire rate a little bit, the damage is realistic due to the fact that shotguns should be the best close range guns. But being able to fire so many high damage shells so fast is a problem to me.
People are saying that the "hitboxes" (hitreg) are a disadvantage, they aren't, infact its an advantage as its easier to hit targets, and you are nearly always guaranteed to hit 1 bullet
cereal, play a bit on modded and you'll see it isnt as op, although i was sniped with a shotgun at long range yesterday so idk :/
Real shotguns are decently effective to what, 100 yards? They aren't really op on Modded, Vanilla I could see because well, Vanilla weapons seem quite weak. The shotgun does have some times where it is bad, like you may get lucky and get a one shot from 10 feet away, sometimes you get unlucky and do 30 damage 10 feet away, hence why I stopped using it, it's unpredictable, not OP. I think the thing about shooting tons of little pellets freaks out Garry's Mod lmao. You CAN snipe with it though, which is slightly annoying, but it doesn't do all that much damage. Not sure how looking down the sights lowers the spread, don't think it works like that.
