More Night Mods

Red agrees with me i think it would help out the current situation. Get those "ok" applicants to become mods.

 

We work on a Quality not Quantity basis here.

We already do that.

 

Ill try to explain the best I can but lets say there is a chart 1-10 and you only accept 9, it means that accept 8 then train them to become a 9.

 

We do decent candidates >>> decent mods. What I'm saying is meh candidates >train> decent mods, same output but more effort on the part of our admins. With this we can attend to the lack of nightmods and stuff.

Well, let's say Quality means a 20x multiplier. It won't do shit when your Quantity is 0. 20 x 0 = 0. If, let's say, we have 5 trainees. That means +5. Training proves to be a 20x multiplier also. 20 x 5 = 100. 100 > 0. I'm just saying that we could achieve Quality in different ways other than already Quality aspirants.

"Could achieve Quality in different ways..." ---> you're right about that one fact. HOWEVER, you'll also get those applicants who fail to meet the criteria to be a mod to begin with. This issue is more prominent now than it was in the past. If we started taking applicants who don't even qualify normally, then not only would they take up a space on the team for some time, but they wouldn't have the knowledge to staff efficiently. Night mods in particular, already go through a longer trial mod process than the normal daytime trials do as it is. With that being done, if they don't meet the scratch, then not only will it have been a waste of time, but we're going back to square one regarding looking for mods. This is why the admins look for potential mods who can fit the criteria so their investments can be worth the time spent.

With that being stated, there are also other factors that can make one candidate look better than another. We already have a lack of night mod applicants, but a majority of them may not fit the bill in some way due to some problems that have yet to be fixed.

 

Well, nothing is easy, but if the funds are right, and if the admins weigh that having a large night staff is worth the time, money, and effort, may I suggest hosting a central European or Australian server, or repurposing, even temporarily, one of the lowest grossing servers for a bit? The TF2 community I was part of had plenty of night staff because they incentivized European players to join the community with low pings on some of the servers based there. It worked quite well there, but I don't know the situation financially here, so I don't know if it would be a viable option immediately. Anyhow, just an idea.

I see a very big flaw with that idea good sir Australians have 200-300 ping on the servers what this will do is cause American players to have the exact same thing you just put us back to square 1 as an Australian my self I saw the flaw with this and had to point it out and it's the exact same thing with a European server so it's about time we tag @Highwon AGAIN

 

Look, I probably speak for a lot of people when I say I would love to help moderate the server at night, but I can't put in the time commitment involved. They can't just throw around the moderator position to anyone, it takes a certain level of commitment and respect

that's the problem specialised players are considered backseat mods if they do take over a mods job many players that like to help the community as a back seat mod usually sadly are not selected to be mods however some other servers are not as harsh on backseat mods despite being a bit annoying some back seat mods are an enjoyable thing to have around this is just a server rule how ever its when it very often this becomes back seat modding can an admin just message me a versian of back steam modding to me through the website

An example of my back seat modding career is explained on the west world server mi was told in game by a manager witch is a lead admin just a diffrent title said my backseat modding is what got my west world app through a bit and my libabilty on forums this server had strict requirements such as propper grammar do not lie have at least 5 reputation on the forums

I'll try get westside14 and wato1124 to have a chat with highwon Sinz and event hoizon this will go a bit far for no reason but mods are a serious thing I'll be working on this

 

No, no, I'm sorry. My suggestion was to create an Australian or European server, which would be hosted from a server in their respective countries, giving the Australian or European players lower ping on that relocated server.
