My uncle was recently promoted to Colonel in the Air Force. He is an Air Force Civil Engineer and is going on 27 years of service.

My grandpa retired from the Air Force as a 2nd Lieutenant after 25 years of service. He was involved with the space program and worked on the notable Titan III as a mechanical engineer dealing with propulsion systems.

Grandpa on my dad´s side served in WW2 for the German Army for two years. Then he served 11 years in the restoration army before I guess retiring to work at the German T-Mobile (Telekom).
And yeah, call him a Nazi, but the man was serving his country and its people, not Hitler.
Great Grandfather from my Dad´s side died in WW1 after serving for 7 years.
Dont really have any intention to enlist, but I respect everyone who does to heart.

My grandpa was part of the Wehrmacht (german military fighting for Hitler during WW2) in different divisions because he was forced to join the military at the age of 17 (in 1944) like everyone else during Hitler's reign. He was fighting against americans within Germany. He was injured by an explosion that caused him to get hurt by a splinter and was recovering in a hospital when the americans attacked his area again. Most of the german soldiers retreated and left the injured behind so he was caught by the americans so he became a prisoner of war and had to make up for what had happened for several years until they released him and let him go home.

All those things aside he was one of the greatest people I've ever known. Unfortunately he isn't with us anymore.

I had an Uncle that served in the Army during Vietnam. After that, no one had served until on of my cousins joined the Air Force in the mid-90s and served 20 years.

I'm a paramedic in the Air Force; just hit my 8 year mark 2 months ago. I also have a brother-in-law that is in training to be a Public Health technician for the Air Force.

I served in the military for 5 years since age 18 till I was 23. I served as a "professional officer" (which is an officer with an academic specialization - I finished my first degree at the age of 17 haha) in the C4I corps, taking the role of an IT specialist for one of the air force main headquarters.
I was also assigned as a shooting instructor (I actually asked for it hehe). I instructed over 13,500 soldiers during my service. My main speciality was the TAR21 and Micro-TAR, but I also instructed the M16 and the Negev.
My rank at the end of my service was Captain. I also received some decorations - the Brigade Commander Citation for my performance during operation Pillar of Defense, and the Protective Edge service ribbon for my service during Operation Protective Edge.

Love the Tar21, by far my favorite assault rifle. Did anything serious occur (problematic wise) during your training of troops as a shooting instructor? I would love to hear stories on it.

Grandfather from my Mom's side used to be a Captain in the Egyptian Armed Forces, he served for around 10 years and fought in the Yom-Kippur war against Israel in 1973. He returned with no injures and later died during my birth.

My father was in the military for 2 years, He was a First Lieutenant and was discharged one year early on some suspestion for connections with Islamic groups, which he was not however his brother was. He was a Military Engineer and luckily for him he never had to do much. Only once he had to defuse a bomb dropped by Israel that didn't blow up since the Yom-Kippur war. My fathers brother, which does support Islamic groups, was discharged and although he was physically unfit served 2 years in the parachute regiment. Thats the power of corruption my friends, High ranking positions even though your unqualified.

In 3 years it will be my turn to serve and if I am picked as an officer which is most likely I will have to serve a 3 year term in the Egyptian army and Might get sent to fight those bloody terrorists in Sinai.

    Hey.

I enlisted in the Army Reserve in June of 2015. Went to basic training that September and graduated AIT with honors back in May of 2016. My MOS (job) is 25 Bravo, or IT Specialist. Anyways here's a cool picture of me shooting a target at basic.
