I think if the server made the gamerule to true it would be far less frustrating for anyone the way I see this. It's not fun when you put a lot of hard work into getting tools so you can make nice buildings only to lose them. This way PvPer would still be able to kill players but non PvPer would not get frustrated and quit. At this point a few group of players are the law and I feel there is less players playing.
If we set KeepInventory to true we might as well take "Survival" out of the server name. Heck, might as well just make it creative only. Oh yeah.. That's right, there is a creative world - no two, that you could go to and not lose your inventory.
If you really feel that way, stand up for yourself. Group up with others and stand up to these people. It's survival, fight for what you have.
If the price is high enough I'll be a bodyguard for a group of people. Sorta like the guy with the minigun in GGO, except I'll actually protect you.
