Alright so, you must be here because you are sick of the way Minecraft looks. Well I'm here to show you guys how to make your Minecraft look all pretty like mine:
    [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

Alright so first thing you'll want to do is open the minecraft launcher and go to Launch Options like so:
Now since you're here, tick on Advanced settings, we'll need it on for a later step.

Go ahead and click on Latest release and you should get a prompt like this:

From here we'll go ahead and click on the little arrow next to the Game directory right here:
That should bring you to a folder called .minecraft , this is your Minecraft Directory:
For now we're not going to need this folder, we'll be using it in a later step.

Go ahead and close the Minecraft launcher, we'll need to reopen it again in a minute.

What you're going to need now is to download these to files:
    http://files.minecraftforge.net/mav....2228/forge-1.11.2-13.20.0.2228-installer.jar
(fair warning this is a direct download to avoid the intrusive advertisements that might disable your ability to download the file)

    http://optifine.net/adloadx?f=OptiFine_1.11.2_HD_U_B7.jar

Forge is a modloader for minecraft that we'll use to install optifine as well as any of the optional mods that I will link below.

Optifine is a mod that will allow us to use shaderpacks as well as tweak graphics settings further to improve fps.

So now go ahead and launch the forge file that you just downloaded, a menu should pop up like this:

We only need the client so go ahead and just click OK.

Next we'll reopen the Minecraft launcher and go to the Launch options tab. Click the button Add new and you'll see a screen like this:

Scroll down on the drop down for Version till you see the one listed above, if you do not see this version go ahead and retry the steps above as you might have done something wrong.

Give it a name and go ahead and click SAVE. You should now see a second profile on your launcher like this:

After that go ahead and go back to the News tab and hit the little green arrow to change to your newly created profile and launch the game, if you made it this far your client should say Powered by Forge in the bottom left corner like so:

Now close the client and go back to the .minecraft folder, refresh the page if needed and open the mods folder.
At this point you can close your .minecraft folder.

Now put the Optifine file into your mods folder and relaunch Minecraft. You should see Optifine in the bottom left corner like so:

After that, in minecraft, open options > Video Settings > Shaders and click on the button that says Shaders Folder like so:

I'll list some options for Shaders that I use. you'll want to choose the versions that will suite your needs, the higher the version the more of a performance hit you'll get.

    http://www.minecraftforum.net/forum...90991-v05-mrmeepz-shaders-the-cats-shaderpack

    http://www.minecraftforum.net/forum...1-6-4-1-11-2-sildurs-shaders-pc-mac-intel-new

What you will want to do is download the shaders you want and put them into the shaders folder like so:

After that go ahead and select the shader you want in minecraft like so: (fair warning your game might lag a bit while it switches from the normal lighting to the shader lighting)

You might also want a resource pack, these change the way the game textures look and gives minecraft a new look.

Go back into Minecraft options and select Resource Packs and click Open Resource Pack Folder like so:

I'll list some of the resource packs that I use below:

    https://mods.curse.com/texture-packs/minecraft/236821-faithful-1-12

    https://mods.curse.com/texture-packs/minecraft/soartex-fanver-vanilla

Then grab whatever resource pack .zip file you want and put them into the folder like so:

Then select the resource pack in minecraft and click done. ( fair warning again this might lag you a bit as it switches textures )

Optional mods to install ( from here on out these mods are pretty easy to install, just place them in mods folder in your .minecraft folder like you did with Optifine )

https://minecraft.curseforge.com/projects/chunk-animator - makes chunks load in a pretty cool way.

https://minecraft.curseforge.com/projects/better-foliage - adds more foliage to minecraft and makes trees round-ish.

https://mods.curse.com/mc-mods/minecraft/258587-itemphysic/2377000 - Changes the way dropped items are displayed by dropping them on the ground instead of hovering in the air. Giving minecraft a more "realistic" feel.

In this part of the tutorial I will be showing you how to install LightLoader, another mod loader we will use to install a few extra mods that forge can't use by itself. This part of the tutorial wont be all that hard to do and I really recommend you install this mod if not anything of the others.

What we are going to do is download lightloader via this link here : http://jenkins.liteloader.com/job/LiteLoaderInstaller 1.11.2/lastSuccessfulBuild/artifact/build/libs/liteloader-installer-1.11.2-00-SNAPSHOT.exe

After downloading this what you'll do is run the file and see a screen like this:

Select the dropdown under Extend from: and choose the option that says forge. This will install lightloader ontop of the forge version of minecraft that we installed in the other tutorial. ( and just like lightloader, we don't need to have forge for this to work and can be installed independently )

After that just click okay and change the profile on the minecraft launcher to the new one that was just created for you ( if you don't see it, relaunch the launcher or make the profile yourself or edit the one you currently have to the correct version )

When Minecraft is up you should see something like this in the top right corner :

To install any of the mods below just place them into the .minecraft/mods folder like in the first tutorial

One of the mods that I recommend you install is TabbyChat2 from this link here:
    https://mods.curse.com/mc-mods/minecraft/232962-tabbychat-2/2383371 - mod link
https://mods.curse.com/mc-mods/minecraft/232960-mnmutils/2383367 - required mod to make the above mod function correctly

This mod adds in a much nicer chat box with a bunch of features including auto chat logging.
( you can find the logs inside .minecraft/logs/chat/ folder ) :
    [IMG] [IMG]

I also recommend installing Apple Skin, a mod that adds in a tooltip and saturation bar overlay to your hotbar in minecraft. :
    [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

    https://mods.curse.com/mc-mods/minecraft/248787-appleskin/2371205

    https://mods.curse.com/mc-mods/minecraft/231597-one-click-crafting/2354204 - One Click Crafting

This mod allows you to quickly craft that item you want so long as you have the items in your inventory as well as the amount you can craft based on the amount of material you have. Just use scroll wheel to scroll through the recipes and click on the item and it will be crafted. No need to memorize those complicated crafting recipes.

Just going to update this here instead of on the original post, I'm currently working on a list of other mods that you can use to further improve your Minecraft experience. However for the second half of the tutorial might be a little bit more intricate than the first tutorial. I will also be adding a poll about whether or not I should make a video and/or a curse modpack/zip with everything you'll need instead of having to download it yourself.

Updated second post with a small tutorial of some mods you might want to install. These mods improve Quality of Life on the server. I will add more mods to the list very soon.
