Follow up on Pythons thread. What exactly can be ghosted while alive. The rule seems to prevent you to work togheter without using global chat which for me doesnt make sense.

In-game events they are not yet aware of.

Basically this. Everything that they aren't aware of and that's round related and game influencing. If you see a C4 planted and then message another innocent that was not aware of this through !p for example, then you ghosted. He didn't know about it and may now go to defuse it or avoid it.

You can ghost most of the stuff that falls under ghosting both while alive or dead.

Another classic example of this would be a traitor calling out other traitors with someone that is innocent in a third-party chat.
It is possible. You just need to know special information and PM it to someone else that's alive without making the information public in global chat.

But why forbid a way to work togheter without alerting the ts:confused:

While I can't tell you with 100% certaincy because I didn't create this rule I can only imagine it's for fairness reasons. Innocents don't have their own chat so the game wasn't designed for them to privately talk to each other.

Innos cant have their own chat cuz it would mean everyones role would be spoiled:facepalm:

Correct, but innocents also don't get their own chat because it's not how the game is designed. Traitors are basically innocents in gameplay logic, they have access to everything an innocent does. And even then, !p, steam chat and so on are all outside of the game itself and you should be sticking to what the gamemode itself gives you to work with.

If the game was designed to give innocents a way to talk without alerting traitors, there would be one.

It still makes no sense to restict the ability to communicate within reasons in a team game like the rules does tho. Ts can but innos cant without having to use the chat that the ts can see. And even so 4 week ban for two people trying to work togheter to make it seems kinda unfair.

Like mellow said before, there is no native way to do this as an innocent player, and so it falls outside the gamemode.
In Capture The Flag, you can't just sit in base and make a copy of your enemy's flag to win, you have to take the enemy's flag to win.
If you want to work together with someone you trust, stick together with them.

Even though, yes, it'd be nice to be able to communicate some information without potentially alerting traitors, allowing the use of third party chat is a problem.
    1) it waters down the ghosting definition which is in place to ensure fair gameplay.
    2) it muddies the definition for the staff team, making it harder to punish and distinguish actual ghosting, again refer to 1.
    3) it is not a native part of the game. For all intents and purposes, it is outside of the game.

Again, yes, it'd be nice, but it is not a part of the game you're playing here.
It does not make sense to let something that is not a part of the game affect the flow of the game.

10 players of 16 alive, the 2 detectives are dead. You know one person to be proven, and you're aware of a C4.
It is in your best interest to alert all players, not just the one.

You know a player to be proven after winning a fight with a traitor and want to tell them where a health station is.
Tell them to follow you and lead them there.

    Point being:
In some cases, in the spirit of the team game, it is best you use global chat for the information.
In others, it may be in your team's interest to limit who gets hold of the information if possible, but you can still share it through other means (e.g. leading them somewhere) that use the actual in-game tools available to you as an innocent player - and doesn't alert everyone to it. E.g. where the health station is.

Returning to the original question, though it was answered already: anything round-related and/or game-influencing they are unaware of cannot be written to a live player via third party chat.

Working together while both of you are alive is fine, but if you're dead then you're dead. (You can't talk to people IRL if you're dead to tell them things can you) So communicating to Inno's while dead to help them win would be really unfair, Same goes for T's, they also can't talk to their living T buddys unless they're using a third-party text/voice chat or !p but that is still ghosting.

Like, you'd still be banned for ghosting by PMing a T buddy that an Inno/Det is in x part of the map as the T most likely didn't know that.

But to answer the question "What can be ghosted" Pretty much nothing because well.. That would be ghosting.
