hey guys! so i have a mac. and i’m looking into getting a gaming computer or laptop. i can’t play pubg or vr chat on my mac, it’s a bummer. anyone have any suggestions? preferably something quality that gets me the most bang for my buck, without spending an ungodly amount of money.
Buy the parts and then build it yourself is the only way to get a decent pc without spending bullshit amount of money for a prebuilt piece of trash. If you can't make your own PC there a 1000s of guides on YouTube.
Don’t buy a laptop. Huge waste of money for a small screen, bad parts etc. Go on pcpartpicker, ask someone to help you build a desktop within your budget, and then make modifications if needed. If you are feeling really lucky, you could also try contacting Ed from TechSource (he’s a pc builder/YouTubed) and he may give you some ideas. Good luck! Ps: For a good desktop, you should spend around the $1000 usd Mark. Anything below won’t last for a long time, and is just a waste of money in my opinion. If you can, spend $1000 on the pc, and like $500 on the other things like a monitor, keyboard, desk, etc.
The market for building a desktop isn't the best right now since the RAM and Video Card shortage but you can still find some amazing deals. A good place to look for parts would be here r/buildapcsales and a good place to start making a list of the parts would be https://pcpartpicker.com/list/ as you can form your list and it will update you on the cheapest parts. Do you have a specific budget you are looking for? like under $500? under $1000? If you have a specific budget I can find you a premade/part list of what you would need. Unless you're planning on playing games while on the go get a gaming laptop. Otherwise get a desktop pc since you can upgrade that as time goes by and it would be cheaper. use pcpartpicker to pick out your parts and to see how much it would cost in total.
I would recommend an i5 CPU, 8GB of ram and a GTX 1050ti but if you're planning on doing VR then get a 1060.
Use pcpartpicker im buying my friend a pc off ironside they seem good not reccomended for super cheap but still
You might want to take a look at this thread that I created a while back. https://www.seriousgmod.com/threads/build-me-a-computer.40343/ A lot of people took their time to answer a bunch of questions. However, in the end, it became my birthday and I thought that the 200-300 dollar premium was worth the prebuilt system. Even at the time, gpus were starting to rise in price so buying a prebuilt right now is a lot better than it used to be because its really hard to find gpus. Of course, thats all my opinion. This is the pc I bought: https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883230242 I am really happy with it and the only thing I dont like is the 8gb of ram. it looks like its out of stock but im sure you can find something similar and you can always upgrade the ram which is what I will be doing in the future. Have fun, buying a computer is exciting stuff.
On that 1100 Intel build, wouldn’t it be better to get a lower end i7 rather than a top tier i5? I honestly don’t know.
honestly wait till this shit thing called "bitcoin" to crash like it should. Then the prices of computer parts should be cheaper.
I bought my prebuilt from iBuyPower at Best Buy and honestly it wasn't too expensive for what I got Spoiler: for a little less than $1100 According to PC Part Picker: Windows 10 OS: ~$100 Intel Core i7-7700: $298 16GB Ram is ~$150 Motherboard: ~$110 GTX 1060 3GB: ~$350 SSD: $50 SATA: $70 My build according to PCPP is $1128, not including the case, battery, fans, or anything else you would need to buy for building your own PC, and I paid less than $1100 Even if my math is off or I found overpriced items, I would still overpay by at least $200 for the ease of knowing I won't have to build and fuck up my own PC Also, this build can run Triple A titles at 30-60 fps on high
