Not sure who all may have done it or knows a good deal about it, but I'm interested in getting into forging/casting metal. I've watched a lot of videos on it and I have an idea of what to do and what to use. One thing I disagree with is using sand as a mold because of some of the videos I've watched it seems sand is tricky to use as it can break off and contaminate or even leave imperfections on what you're casting. I was hoping on some insight on what else could be used?

If anyone has done this please some tips would be nice and any examples you have that you don't mind sharing would be nice to see too!

Sand is actually a really good thing to use, but your not just using regular play sand. Your using something called green sands, its sand clay and water. I'm by no means someone who does it as anything more then just a small part time hobby, but when you use sand for casting, your using pretty much sand and cat litter.
