Yes, I find the settlement building mechanic a little confusing, and the way dialogue is done now is weird on pc. I'll be talking to someone and then accidently look out it the conversation and then slowly look back in to resume talking Spoiler: Spoiler There's a vault in the game

This game is easily the coolest and most enjoyable experience I've ever gotten out of a game. GOTY confirmed. Spoiler: Journey thus far I've decided to go with the Brotherhood of Steel, and am currently looking to start exploring as I've not had enough ammo/provisions to truly explore.

Spoiler: deeper into my faction I'm a BoS knight and I got my own set of power armor its pretty fuckin sick cant wait to ruin those synths Also I found the fallout 2 power armor (no legs though)
Spoiler So i picked up Piper as a companion (Rip dogmeat you served me well) and i love the changes to companions, having her react to what I do and comment on each place we visit is amazing, it makes her feel like a companion more than pack mule bullet sponge, you can definitely see that Bethesda took influences from Willow and Vilja mods from previous games here!

The nearby farm near start point is a great place to start building. You will have to use a bunch of water pumps, which can get ugly, but if you make them part of the asethetics or push them out of the way in a corner or something, it is easy to ignore. It has pretty good space, and is clear to allow you to build as you want.
