For the next content update for Serious Minecraft, we'll be adding: Factions SkyWars Hall of Titles (WIP) Possibly some builds that our builders have been working on (I need to coordinate with them on how and what we'll be adding) Obviously that list leaves a lot to be desired in the way of details, so I'm gonna go into each one a bit more one by one. Factions It's been discussed quite a bit, and the fact that PvP is fairly unrewarding in the survival world has only endorsed the want for Factions or something similar more and more, so we've decided to go ahead and give it a shot alongside the survival world. Some important points to get out of the way before people freak out: Factions will have it's own set of worlds (overworld, nether, end) Inventories will NOT be connected to any other worlds (this unfortunately leaves us without a market unless we make an entirely separate one) We will be running a 1 month beta of the Factions world (this means a total wipe at the end of the first month, various settings are bound to change based on feedback throughout the beta, and lastly in the worst possible scenario possible wipes without warning during the one month period) As I mentioned above, as this is a beta, there will likely be changes, but the initial settings are looking to go as follows: Max power: 12 Min power: 0, considering -12 Initial power of new players: 3 Power gain / hour: 2.5 Power loss on death: 2 World size: 7500 in each direction from 0,0 Obsidian breaker of some sort, hits: 5 Inactivity faction kick: 3 weeks McMMO disabled in Factions worlds Jobs disabled in Factions worlds (no use in an economy without a market atm, and no way to split economies at current time without splitting servers) Disabled use of /ec SafeTrade /trade will still be available for bartering in safe areas (spawn) No restrictions on PvP Obviously, some of the current rules will not apply to factions, and while we're in the beta phase, the rules will have to be rewritten in a way to accommodate the Factions world vs the survival world SkyWars In an attempt to expand our mini-game selection, we'll be adding a version of SkyWars. Maps will be custom built by various volunteer builders (I know there's a handful already in the works, contact me if you'd like to try to build one). This will also be in a beta stage when it is released, as the selection for SkyWars plugins is quite vast, and each one has some quirks that others don't. I've settled on one for now though, and have tested it a little but we'll determine how well it works for us with a larger testing pool over a longer time period. Hall of Heroes Titles So something else that's been a popular request throughout the SGM community, not just Minecraft, is a title system. Well, it turns out this isn't as hard as it would seem in Minecraft and I've devised a way to setup a series of signs that people can right click and change their titles based on ones they've earned, or reset it to their donator prefix. To start out, this will just have a few testing titles and a small handful of titles that you can earn from reporting bugs. If you earn a title, a developer will have to add the permission to you for you to be able to use the sign for that specific title. In the future, this could be expanded upon to have titles earned automatically for different achievements or playtime metrics. We'll see where this goes, and if you have input on this feel free to suggest things! Anyway, that's the general content for this update. I know that not EVERYONE is thrilled with the idea of Factions or SkyWars, but I know there's a good chunk of you guys who have wanted more content in general, and specifically Factions. I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm hyped to blow up bases and dominate the Factions scene alongside you other kingpens. This content update is going to be given a rough release date of 4/21/17, though I cannot guarantee that I will be available on that date to actually push the content to the live server, as I have 3 separate group projects due in the coming weeks and schedules don't always work out the way I'd like.
