    New Users Guide
Hello and welcome to Serious Gmod's Deathrun! This is the second gamemode that was implemented in July of 2015, and has been a part of the community ever since.

    About Deathrun:
Deathrun is a game mode consisting of two roles:
    • Deaths
    • Runners
The Deaths are the ones that are similar to the traitors in TTT, where the role of these Deaths are to attempt to kill the Runners that traverse through the map with various traps and obstacles in their way. You as a death claim and activate these traps in order to kill the runners and win the round.

As a Runner, your only goal is to traverse through the map, avoid any and all traps, and make your way to the very end of the map, where you are given many different minigames to choose from that chooses the fate of the death. These generally vary, but are given in the following outline:

    • Bunnyhopping (Bhop): This is generally an easy one where there is a set of steps leading to a center, which contains various weapons to use against each other. This does have a risk if the death is any good at bhopping, but it is probably the fairest of the gamemodes.
    • Easy: This is generally the most certain one to victory for the runners, where the death is put into a deathtrap himself, and is killed without any chance of winning.
    • AWP: This is generally including a level, flat playing field, which includes both players being given AWPs, and are asked to battle to the death.
*Note: There are some unique gamemodes found within certain maps, such as "Old School, Survival, and Knife Arena" in Atomic Warfare, but those are exclusive to the map.

Bunnyhopping and You: A Direct Guide to Basic Bunnyhopping

Bunnyhopping is pretty much essential to being consistent at completing maps. Sometimes just walking through and taking it trap by trap is neither as fun, or as consistent as bhopping through and maintaining a quicker speed.

First, it is important that you enable "Autojump" in your deathrun settings console.

To do so, you can open the menu using F1, and then enabling "Autojump" at the bottom of the menu, as seen here.

This allows you to continue to jump by holding space bar, which is much easier for beginners.

In order to first gain speed, you are to first do what is known as "pre-speeding". Pre-speeding allows you to maintain the speed you wish to go throughout the entire map using the w key to begin going forward, so long as you continue to wiggle and move your character in either the left of right direction that corresponds with the movement key you are using.

There are generally two ways to pre-speed: the circle method, or the figure-8 method. The circle method uses a single continuous direction to gain speed before bunnyhopping, while the figure-8 method uses both directions to gain speed while going in a figure-8 pattern. This is based on preference, but both do follow the same objective in the end, which is to gain speed in order to bhop efficiently. Remember, it's about making it through the map as fast and as in control of your character as possible!

For Example: If you were to want to move in the left direction, you would continue to keep the jump button held down, and while moving your mouse in the left direction, you would also hold the "left movement key" in order to do what is known as "Wiggling". Wiggling allows you to gain speed, and can be done in either the left direction or the right direction depending on where you wish to move.

Ghost Mode and You! A Guide to Understanding !Ghost Command

The ghost command is something entirely unique to deathrun, and can be used in various different manners, such as getting some practice in, or look through the remainder of the map without the risk of death.

By typing in the !Ghost command in your chat, you are able to become a ghost, and freely noclip and bunny hop throughout the map. All it takes is using the "V" key, and you'll be ready to clip through anything you want. You also are unable to die in this mode, meaning that when you fall off the map, you just simply have to noclip back up and try again.

This can be helpful when you wish to bhop through the map as fast as possible, learning new routes, or understanding what the map has to offer in general.
