This thread is in regard to @RhazhBash ’s recent ghosting ban on @Indy226.
Indy was recently banned for ghosting because a player messages him a kos via pms. Indy acted upon this kos, and both players were banned for ghosting.

My issue with this ban is that there isn’t anything written in the current rules that specifies that acting upon information ghosted to you is also considered ghosting.

This is a topic that has been discussed in the past with a great deal of confusion and never any real outcome.

I’ve been told by a past lead administrator that acting upon a kos that was ghosted to you is RDM, since you’re acting on information that wasn’t available to you in-game. I’ve also seen past administrators and lead administrators state that both parties are ghosting, even the one that is just acting on the information that was sent to them.

I think that there should be something added to the rules that states that acting on information sent to you via 3rd party communication is considered ghosting as well. It seems like this has always just been something that is implied, and I can see how it would be confusing for new players.

If you were in a call with someone, you were both alive, they told you someone was a t, and you acted on it, that is 100% is ghosting and the exact same should be treated with messages, no?

Yeah I’m not questioning the validity of whether or not he was ghosted to. I’m saying that right now there isn’t anything in the rules that states acting on information ghosted to you is considered ghosting as well.

    It's in the extended rules.
    3. GHOSTING
    1. Ghosting is the act of providing current-round-related, game-influencing information to an alive player, or players, through means of communications other than world or team chat.
    2. False or misleading information may still be considered ghosting if it affects the round.
    3. Streams must be set to a 5 minute delay. Can be longer than this, but not shorter.

    EXAMPLES OF GHOSTING:
    - Telling alive players who the traitors are.
    - Sending any message that has potential to influence the current round.
    - Informing staff members that the last T is AFK is NOT ghosting.

"TELLING ALIVE PLAYERS WHO THE TRAITORS ARE"

Again.. I’m not questioning whether he was ghosted to or not..

There isn’t anything in the rules that states ACTING ON INFORMATION GIVEN TO YOU is considered ghosting.

I agree. However, I never act on someone ghosting me an information, which is something Indy should've done as well. If he responded to a report saying "Mr X told me you were a traitor", then an admin could think that both Indy and whoever ghosted him the information were cheating.
