I think would be better fitting as a thread as opposed to a Q&A. Q and As is more for gameplay/rule questions, so I'll move it to general discussions to reflect this. And the answer is yes. Once had a dude that was hacking, and after some time nilz managed to berate them into confessing. For a while we all just had a chill chat about why he was hacking and such and it pretty much just boiled down to boredom. I debated if I had enough evidence recorded, but then realised he's admitted to it so banned him after a map or two. Was a shame cause he was chill dude, just shame he chose to hack and take the game from others.
not really Q&A material, anyway yeah ive felt bad a couple times like people who are regulars and racked up enough rdms for a mass rdm when they were mostly mistakes or regulars that rdm and leave because of technical difficulties but at the end of they day appeals are there for use to show mercy
Not really, well nothing that toutched me in any way atleast. They broke one or several rules and that gets you punished. I didn't ban them, they made me ban them.
not staff but Had to ban a friend for mass rdm and ended up extending and globalizing his ban for a bit longer cause of his history at the time kinda sucked but it was whatever lol
Usually happened with me when two friends were ghosting together, not being familiar with the rules, just on the server having fun. Usually I asked for admin discretion if they stopped doing it and apologized after I mentioned it to them, though.
Personally if its a regular or sometimes even a friendly random player, who isnt a bad person but just happens to rank up enough RDM offenses or ghosts to me without knowing its ghosting. I would often (if I dont use discretion to warn instead of ban on the ghsoting part) Pm the player apologizing that I have to ban them for breaking rules. And usually they are really chill about it when I go that way o.o But if someone betrays the trust, I put in em earlier, then the hammer falls hard. I still remember a player who after he put a porn spray down, acted like it was not on purpose, I trusted him and let him off with a warning, to find out later that after I left he set the spray back to the porn spray and had told the whole server that I had allowed that spray. Welp he ended up serving double the punishment >.>
I'm sorry if deathrun doesn't count . But of course, even though most of the people banned on deathrun were annoying pricks who micspam. Sometimes you had a really young player who was really enjoying themselves, so they would get really loud. Loud enough in fact to warrant multiple gags and eventually a ban. Sometimes I'd be okay with banning the kid though, when they're really annoying. But a lot of players do this thing where they think it's okay to start harassing the player just because I gagged them. A lot of the time the harasser was a regular that I really didn't want to ban, but knew I had to once they harassed enough.
I once felt bad for banning this dude called indy, but those feelings are gone now. Well, we play and have fun with people we sometimes have to ban, so yeah. Unless you have any friends you will have some mixed feelings from time to time.
Every ban feels bad. If staff had it their way there would be no bans cause there'd be no hackers or mass Rdmers. Sure it feels good to protect the server, but it'd feel any better if there wasn't a need for it
I feel bad sometimes, but the first time I ever felt truly bad was when I had just gotten admin and was feeling all in my big boy boots and I hopped on one quiet morning and there was me and maybe 5 other guys, got chatting and made friends with them even friended them on steam and then I realized one of them was hacking, we started discussing it and it was actually feeling like a moment of betrayal... I obviously had to ban him but it was sad. I did still play with him after the fact but in the moment was just heart breaking you know.
