Answered Stream Delays

  1. So, we had a fun discussion earlier today.

To sum it up, with the forced stream delay why don't we just force people to change their names and disallow all streaming links?

With a 15 minute delay its pretty worthless to stream. No chance for the stream to interact with you. All I see streaming do is cause problems, plus the staff needs to check the links to verify the delay.

If we just blanket warn and force name changes for the links, it'll lower staff workload and remove the delay issue entirely. Not to mention the delay isn't mentioned on the MOTD iirc.

Issue would be, that if we just changed the rules so we would ask players to change their name. If they have it as a streamlink in their name when they join the servers and only ask them to change their name.
Then people who saw the link and checked it out before the streamer's name was changed, will still have access to a stream with no delays and are able to use it for ghosting purposes.

While yes 15 minute delay makes it worthless for streamers to stream the game due to them not being able to interact with their viewers.
Its the only way to avoid Ghosting through streams when it comes to people adverticing their stream through names ^^
