As the rules currently stand, you cannot kill a detective for tasering you. I remember having this conversation with, I believe, @Pacifist in the past. Now, for being a server that likes to be exact and very specific in its ruling, I find this specific rule to be quite appalling. To the extent of my knowledge, the taser does 10 damage to the tasered player. This is total bs because the rules also state, or at least this is how they are enforced, that you cannot kill a detective UNTIL they shoot or damage you. Allowing the detective to taser a player for no reason makes no sense whatsoever. If the player damages you, detective or not, you should be allowed to kill them. **IF THE TASER DOES NOT ACTUALLY DO 10 DAMAGE ANYMORE, IGNORE THIS THREAD*
The point of this rule is just a clarification of the self defense rule. The only reason why an inno should kill a detective is in self-defense. Self-defense ends as soon as the detective stops shooting the inno in question, since you can't respond immediately to the damage, you technically aren't protecting yourself, unless they keep doing it to the point where it puts you in danger, or if they shoot at the ragdoll/step on it/try to push you into props to damage you.
Even then your argument doesn't hold up. If the detective shoots me once, is it not RDM? Am I allowed to kill them? What if they shoot me once, but they shoot me in the head, killing me?
If you aren't in danger, it isn't self-defense, its RDM. Any time they damage you is still RDM on their part, just in general don't kill a detective unless they are actively shooting at you.
Based on my knowledge. When the taser was added @scuffed water decreed that any unnecessary taser shots is an rdm and killing that detective is labeled as self defense When scuffed was a lead
Okay, so the reason why we only allow the killing of detectives by innocents in self-defense is because a detective is proven innocent, correct? So what if a non-detective player that is proven by tester (guaranteed innocent) tasers me. Does the same ruling apply, or am I allowed to kill them because they simply do not have the detective role? Also, what do you define "danger" as? When am I "in danger?"
If an innocent shoots you he is shooting somebody, T acts committed by innocents do not expire. If you aren't being shot at, being cornered into a room with an incendiary, being pushed towards a cliff edge, they're cooking a frag, they're approaching you with an explosive barrel, using a jihad, arming a c4, those are just the ones off the top of my head. Also the ones marked with (D) on the extended rules list.
I think you're making this more complicated than it needs to be. If the taser does damage, then you should be allowed to kill the detective for tasering you. This rule is illogical and inconsistent with common sense ruling. I understand the whole "t acts commited by innos don't expire" thing and that t acts commited by detectives do because you know for sure that they aren't a traitor. I just believe that this gives detectives a bit of leniency when it comes to RDM. If anything, it should at least be considered to be toxic gameplay if they taser you for no reason.
I still support this rule. There is a distinction here between defending yourself vs getting revenge for a measly 10 damage. "oh my life is in danger if I am tazed" yeah, maybe, but your life is equally in danger if a detective is pointing a harpoon at you. You are powerless to stop him.
Killing a detective for 10 damage is just as petty as a detective tasering for no reason. Neither action really accomplishes anything, but it should still be allowed as part of a technicality (killing for tasering, that is).
ok but if im allowed to kill someone for damaging me why not kill them for being an asshole AND get them slain?
Look, the point of this thread isn’t that I just want to kill a detective for tasering me- I probably wouldn’t if that’s all they did. It really just depends on the situation. I just think that this rule is inconsistent with the rest of the rules regarding damaging a player.
Because you shouldn't be killing people to take revenge on them damaging you. You should be killing them because you believe they are a traitor intent on killing you. If they are a detective or a traitor buddy, you know that not to be the case, so there is no reason to. Especially if it's just 10 dmg with no follow up damage.
No, just no. It’s RDM on their part still. BUT, like said before you can only kill a detective in self defense. If a detective tases you and walks away, if you search him out and kill him you aren’t defending yourself you are holding a personal vendetta. Now, it’s a different story if said detective is trying to kill you by messing with your rag doll or shooting you when you get up, then you have full right to respond. That’s exactly why the rule is the way it is right now.
no, you just don’t know the rules very well. if a normal player damages you you can kill them no matter what. detectives are treated different in almost EVERY single facet of the game and their respective rules regarding them.
