As we all know, the extended rules were completely revamped recently, and with that revamping, the changelog was removed. I'm simply writing this as the extended rules recently received a slight update, and it seems like there's no place for people to be aware of this, unless they were here during the changes and were looking at shoutbox at the time.
I asked Mango for this and he seemed to not want it, but I'd like to see what the community wants. No harm in adding one, only takes a few moments.

Background: The extended rules became so extended that players would not read them.

I added a "current" date to the first post so you know when they've been changed.

I don't think it's optimal to have people search for the most recent changes when they see that the extended rules have been updated. The changelog doesn't have to extend the actual post, just add a changelog similar to staff teams...

Something akin to what Helix used to do, with a new post at the bottom detailing date and the changes would be nice, since that alerts any forum goer by showing up in new posts. Doesn't need to be a grand piece of work either, e.g. just copy paste the old version of the rule and the new version, or in cases where one is added/removed, just say that:
    or
+1 but seeing as the intent was to simplify the ruleset more, I don't think a lot of changes will be made moving forward. So it shouldn't be too confusing even without a log.

I believe a lot of players who know the rules will notice the change in it.

But new players can't keep up or notice the little differencat the very least make the rules into numbers like the actual law and set the number in the changelog.

    For example:

    Rule 1.1.2 has changed.

    Or

    rule 3.5.4 has been removed.

I'm not sure if I'm the only one catching this or not- but you keep throwing this argument around but it doesn't really make sense at all and isn't really logical.

One of the things that Trinity suggested was that even another thread was possible. This would help avoid any additional 'clutter' to your thread and aesthetic without the risk of it becoming 'too large' to read.

Furthermore, reading the change log wouldn't even be necessary and you don't have to worry about players reading it or not. It's only serving as somewhere for players who may not be as in-tuned in the community to be familiar with what changes are going on with the rules. There's current reports that state the rules one way that are still on the front page of the reports section- while the extended rules on that rule have already been updated... and you wouldn't know about those changes unless you were present in shoutbox at the time or if somebody told you.

To make it even worst, a date was included to showing that the rules were changed.... so there's concern that the rules may not be read because it gets too long.. for a change log? But instead, you rather have players read through the entire extended rules if they've already read it previously to search for what snippet may be changed without giving them any guidance to what may have been changed?

Not including a change log is alienating your casual players and only there to reward newer players. The logic about it becoming 'too long' doesn't hold, so the only other explanation of not including it is to preserve the aesthetic- which I feel can still be done in other ways.

    Okay.

The next change will be in a changelog. It will be similar to the staff changelog that drops off items after so long.
