Make Mic Battery Less Annoying.

That mute feature doesn't always work.. Plus, its not like your going to be holding down to your mic down continuously in the middle of a round.. I see no purpose, just donate, beg, or don't use your mic at all and use chat like me.

  5. Why are so many people trying to drive away new players by giving perks to "regulars" recently? This is literally how servers die - I've been a part of several communities, and the last huge community I was a part of died from doing almost exactly this sort of thing.

Again, like with my comment on Xpro's thread about removing RDM and leave bans from regulars, there's plenty of toxic players who have played pretty long who would jump at the ability to abuse this privilege.

@Evilshallwin Toxic players jumping at the opportunity, huh? Staff can gag the toxic players. Regular players can mute them or report them on the forums.

This gives incentive for people to return. I don't see how this will drive away new players any more than mic battery does. It might even offer new players relief knowing they can get rid of mic battery.

There's already people who bought donor ranks and have abused it so it doesn't really matter at this point whether a new person or regular member abuses it or not because the results are still the same except for one exception: One does not have mic battery and can keep going on.

While I can see both sides, I got a suggestion:
    Toggle-able mic battery.

If people on the server are being spammy on the mic, a staff member can toggle it on to enable voice battery to cool down the server.
Once the server cool down, the staff can turn it off.

This could make the mic battery less annoying to deal with as it could be used in some situations to combat mic spam on the server without having it being overly bearing on the players.

Truth to be told, some of the examples here are just outliers (or at least from my experience).
For most of the time, it's usually people discussing things beside TTT that isn't really much about memes.

I'm going to play devil's advocate and argue for why mic battery should be made less "annoying".
These are from my experience from playing SGM servers for approximately a year or more.

Some people don't use discord so they get their social aspect in-game.
Not everybody is going to use discord.
Hell. I rarely see people on discord voice channels nowadays.
    It's like TS3 back then.
Not everybody is going to use it.

    Honestly, this is an outlier.
I rarely meet people who do things like what you typed.
Even so, staff are quick to gag them when it becomes spammy.
Spam is discretionary so it can actually fall under spam.
Worse case scenario, there is no staff online.
Make a forum report. Press tab and click on the speaker icon to mute the player.
Are we really going to let few rotten apples spoil the whole barrel?

Honestly, that is the shittiest reason I ever heard to incentive players to donate. The player models, jihads, and discount on upgrades are even stronger and better incentives than unlimited mic battery.

Not everybody uses binds/chat or knowledgeable in console related matters.
Why limit it to chat only?
People talk all the time on the mic. Give them some power to do things in their own preferred style.

Yet players on the server use it to chit chat all the time, Zyp.
I can literally get on the server and hear people talk about things not related to TTT matters.
It's not always about TTT-related matters.

Make a forum report and change server.
Another option would be request a staff member to get on the server to ban the mic spammer (if the mic spam is excessive).

You can never ever eradicate toxicity or toxic players.
    It's part of human nature.
It's how people are unfortunately when it comes to certain matters.
It's like moderator forgiveness we have now.
There was few rotten apples spoiling the barrel, but that doesn't mean we should completely revoke the newly founded privilege.
There will always be bumps in the road no matter whether it is adopted or not.
Besides, there has been donors who abused this privilege and got banned for such.
At this point, it doesn't really matter whether a new user or donor abuse it because the end result is going to be the same in regards to how we handled donors who abused the no mic battery privilege.

No, it's literally not. The purpose of the microphone in the Trouble in Terrorist Town gamemode is for disseminating round-related information. That is the reason for the microphone battery, to ensure the information is relevant. Thank you for your opinion on the microphone function, though.

    Bitch.

I don't like the mic battery but I understand why it exists. If an admin or a moderator is not online it can be very frustrating to have to endure spam. The mute function is cool and all but some players aren't aware they can do that, not to mention the feature doesn't always work. Perhaps there are cases where a player may not be mic spamming but he tends to speak a lot, that can be an annoyance to other players but may not be enough for a gag.

  11. The point is to not have to mute people in the tab menu. You have to go out of your way just to make them shut up, when they clearly should shut up.

Yes, it creates clutter in the chat, causing people to not get koses people call, etc. And, it's unlimited in deadchat where most of the chit chat happens.

Yet that's more on the people, Zyp.
If they want to pay attention to the chat, they're able to do such.
It's not that hard to filter what information is relevant or not.
Besides, you literally have to do this on every single TTT community.
You have to filter information and decide whether it's relevant to you or not.
Besides, this is about mic battery, not chat battery.
Mic battery where there is no actual legitimate recording besides launching obs or shadowplay and record the game 24/7.

We don't legitimately need mic battery to solve our mic spam/talkative people problems.
There's other ways to resolve these problems.
One way is you could be a douchebag and interrupt the person and telling to stop telling us his life story.
    Etc. Etc.
Honestly, this is like RDM, pacifist.
"If an admin or a moderator is not online it can be very frustrating to have to endure RDM. The report function is cool and all but some players aren't aware they can do that, not to mention that sometimes reports get lost in map change and what not."
Honestly, just report them on forums and get them banned.
Beg a staff member to get on for a moment to ban the person if the mic spam is excessive.
