sometimes you have that legit player who crashed or had their internet go out or whatever but they had to leave the server against their will. Why isn’t it required to have the ban voided if the player has evidence of crash and the appeal is accepted? The player has no choice in what was happening.
It's truly up to the staff member that banned them/is handling the appeal. Myself personally if they have all the proof of a crash I would void and unban but thats just me. Admins can over rule their call and make it their own call with proper authority.
Yeah but that can bring major bias into play. Even with every correct card on the table the player is still coming out of it with a pretty big thing on his “record”. If the player were to actually rdm and leave then it would be 2 weeks they would be banned, when they only committed 1 act of rdm and leave.
I would say that if it was up to me I would look into what they were serving a slay for. If they had intentionally RDMed before the crash then it would be their own fault for serving a slay and therefor I wouldn't feel that there is a reason to void it. I do feel it should be required if the player hadn't done the RDM on purpose since accidents do happen but with intentional then it would be more of don't RDM and you won't have to worry about dcing.
I always wait 1-2 rounds before banning for RDM and Leave, since it could be a crash and what not. I give them time to come back, if they don't then ban, if they do come back, happy times^^
I, myself, try to have staff and regulars on my friends list in order to message them from my steam mobile app if I have any problems on my pc, or something has happened. It's pretty simple.
For users without history and such we encourage our staff members to go ahead and lift the bans and void- based on all of the circumstances around it. There's situations where the ban may stick- but it's pretty rare. The mod also has the discretion, and we encourage them, to void these bans as well, granted that there's no history. Ban appeals is one of the areas that we actually give moderators quite a bit of freedom to show how they handle dealing with bans when they have that bit of discretion. Being so, we don't want to put a lot of hard limitations on what they can and can't do- so it's typically handled on recommendations from administration. That being said- you gotta trust me when I say that their peers scrutinize the hell out of these. Whenever there's a slight mistake, or somebody thinks that they're being unfair, it's usually always reported, and resolved within their admin if need be. So we have that accountability held in appeals. That being said, there's gotta be a balance where you just need to figure out what the issue is and resolve it rather than leaving it the staff to deal with every time. When you have a player who seems to crash every single time they get a slay, after some time some of this credibility and leniency is gonna ware off. When a users ban history is listed with 8-9 voids due to disconnects, you're less likely to get this appeal accepted. Even more so, every case that I've personally have seen like this has resulted in the user figuring out what the issue is and having it resolved. The best advice I can give is that if you do have a crash, try to throw yourself in shoutbox or contact the staff member on steam to let them know asap. We can do our best to accommodate it to get you back on the server to serve your slay, or if for some reason you can't come back after resolving the crash, we can see if you can serve it later.
