Accepted [Forum Suggestion] Ranks for Trials

Before I say anything, yes I know Tmod is a short period of time, usually, *cough* @French Toast *cough*
And yes I know they can be found in the staff groups

Let me now counter these points with first saying there's nearly always a trial mod on the staff list, and not many users frequent staff groups waiting for players to be picked up

I feel like it would build a better connection with the community and staff if we could easily tell who has been picked up

As well, a rank for trial shouldn't be very hard to program at all. Admins would be able to promote players to trial and remove it if necessary

I feel it would also be more professional that if a trial mod is reported, they have their own rank to signify they're not a regular player

They aren't staff so they shouldn't have a staff rank and they also got no power on the forum so there is no need for a trial mod rank as on the forum they are the same as any other non staff member.

 

While I think this is a good idea, in the other hand adding this ranks forces admins to have another thing to edit and modify. While this seems a bit easy to disregard as "easy" to do you have to realize the amount of things Admins already have to deal with.

Plus, any former staff and current staff know TMods aren't real people.

They are regular player until they get staff since being tmod doesn't mean you will get mod once the trial phase is over.

 

This promotion would occur after the admin picks them up on their app. Shouldn't take too long

Correct in that it's not garunteed staff. But that has nothing to do with the rank, as they are T mod at that time

 

I've said it before, and I'll say it again. We need a subtopic for "Forum Suggestions". Please, it shouldn't even be that hard to manage. Don't mean to stray from the OP, but it's aggravating that we don't have the right place to suggest material for the forums themselves.

 

+1 , no harm in adding a rank which displays if a person is a Trial Moderator or not. Don't display them in the Staff Online now section however, since they don't have the powers necessary for regulars to be benefited from seeing them there and requesting their presence.

Quite a few people didn't know I was a trial moderator until after I resigned lol

 

Makes sense just for the sake of consistency. Every other rank shows up on the forums but for some wacky reason Trial mod doesnt. And it shouldn't really be an extra burden to Admins because it's just a few extra clicks on top of giving them the rank on the servers.

I meant that there are 3 people disagreeing but 1 person providing feedback...b-baka

 

Reasons this shouldn't be a thing:

1. Relatively low time players are trial mods.
2. They'd receive no extra forum privileges.
3. They wouldn't be on the staff member list under 'notable members'.
4. No guarantee players will go past the trial stage.
5. There's a current list of trial mods HERE .

 

All of these points except #3 I already talked about and countered either in the OP or in the comments. And I don't understand #3.

None of these are really a reason not to have the rank be a thing

 

Trial mods really can't help you with anything on the forums. It's strictly an in-game rank so they can access the rdm manager and learn how to handle reports.

 

-1 Due to points already stated. Yes, we are all aware I was a trial for 16 days, but by then everyone was aware, as I was constantly called out for being "forever a tmod." There's no reason for Trial mods to have a rank on the forums, as they wouldn't (and shouldn't!) have access to anything more than members. If you want to know who's a trial, check staff groups. Applicants apply to help the servers, not for a uniquely colored name.

 

Allowing the rank would bring unwanted attention to the individuals holding it. Players would approach them the same way they approach them in-game(while there is no other staff present other then that sole T-mod) asking for assistance in dealing with blatant RDM'ers and the whole shabang, and the T-mod would be unable to help or do anything except pass on the message or maybe screenshot here and there. This is a similar concept for the forums, and there really is no reason for a forum rank for them other then 'recognition', something that is already gained if they pass the Trial Phase.

If we were able to have no rank visible on the servers, but still grant them access to view the RDM manager that would perhaps even be ideal in regards to low-key training and avoid T-mods being in those helpless situations.

To everyone that -1 this, this allows a sense of frailty about them. It means they are put at a higher status, meaning it is an extra test for mods, and it means they are tested on their knowledge of forum rules and such.
