Why did you become staff?

I'm in Asia so I used to play on night hours where there are little to no mods when I am on. Got sick of RDMers, so applied for staff and proceeded to ban 20-40 users a day. @Jässa as my 20 bans a day quota partner.

Resigning as Admin the first time was due to weak ass / stupid actions of the higher ups that I didn't agree with at the time. It was a nice 6 month break from staffing.

Second admin tenure was cool as well. Afterwards, just got tired of the game, plus I just graduated so, ya know, gotta focus on real life.

I applied because I legitimately wanted to help improve the server and because I LOVE handling reports. It's too bad my recklessness caused me to do otherwise.

I enjoyed my time managing a variety of Gmod servers from 2012-2015 and came back to Gmod just casually to have a good time and reminisce a bit. A good 6 or more months after joining the servers the staff team became extremely dead (sometime just after shutdown) with very few slots actually filled & it was becoming extremely difficult to just play the game due to constant rdm etc. I joined the staff team to both help out but also to actually get to play the game in peace for a bit. I resigned from my first tenure after around 100 days or so as I just felt really unappreciated by the staff team at the time and felt really critical of the administration ( both in their lack of action and overall handling of situations).

I rejoined the staff team under deathrun moderator as I was honestly pretty bored but also had experience with deathrun previously so thought it might be worth a go. I also believed that being inside the Deathrun staff team would enable me to resolve issues with the TTT staff team as I had experience from my previous tenure. We repopulated deathrun on a fair few occassions but not very consistently. Wink Resigned so I moved up to Deathrun admin and was able to further support the TTT staff team with their various requests while developing my own family share checker, catching various evaders, updating various threads and trying to keep the staff team as consistent as possible when they would warn or ban a user.

I resigned from my most recent tenure as I was around for over a year at that point and just wanted a bit of a break. One of my main goals was to support the staff team so it could get to the point of not needing me and it got to that point. Also I really couldn't be arsed to apply back for TTT staff and maintain some hour requirement to get perms in-game to ban obvious hackers or evaders. Like just let me global them man instead of making people wait a day or more for admin requests to be done while they just shuffle to the next server and cause havoc.

I have quite a resume in staffing

Began when in one of the first communities I joined, I climbed the ladder, and by that i mean was noticed by the owner for being more than competent for my job, and was granted a managing position for the administration which grew quite large in numbers. The bigger it got, the more chaotic things would get. I ran a tight ship, things were pretty black and white, any grey areas were mostly answered and or could be handled by the upper staff I had in positions. It was probably my best work, and I had a 0 tolerance mentality for severe issues or issues that could cause a staff-wide strain, helped keep a lot of staff in for the two years I was there for. However community fell, and I moved on.

Second community I climbed the ranks, and basically managed the team by ragging the owner to do things about staff issues. Eventually left due to issues in my life and peer pressure lol

From there I staffed various communities, mostly for fun and I didn't like dealing with people who broke rules and made it pretty unbearable for everyone else. I enjoyed my time as staff.

I applied here eventually because I got bored enough, and tired of dealing with petty rule breakers. But I gotta say SGM has the most trying staff protocols, and it explained a lot of the staff layover numbers being quite high, and why there were less than competent people who were in, but were good enough to stay, while other applications [and some potentially better than what is in the team]were on hold due to a cap in the staff team. As Nathan stated, Admin Discretion is quite foolish for the most part, as it severely dampers the efficiency of mods and really could be ratified to be more efficient as mods face more of things that fall under the "admin discretion" than the 15 hours that admins put in. Plus almost no support for staff that require evidence for nearly every damn action they do, since petty reports are allowed here. For something that's volunteer work, it's quite amazing how some people last as long as they do. However some people really enjoy that, and I enjoyed the staffing part more, than having a load of evidence to cover everything. I resigned however due to a change in life circumstances.

I was 15 at the start of my first tenure, my reason for applying is why most people initially apply. And that's just because you wanna help out, you have play sessions where there is no staff online and it's just cancer to put it bluntly. You're like "wow, the lack of brain cells here is intense, I could do something about that¿" I feel like this trend has always been a thing, and will continue to be a thing until the day sgm dies. Even though a lot of my irl and older sgm friends still bully me for playing TTT in 2021, It holds a special place in my heart and in my childhood. So playing a game I enjoy with a community that is constant, why wouldn't you wanna help out while you play ya know? I'll do the best to make my play session just as enjoyable for others as it may be for myself.

As for my second and current tenure, it's just a continuation of what I said above. During my first tenure, I got promoted to admin on my 16th birthday, which by the way was an awesome day. (young admins club gang gang) I went into staffing just wanting to help out then when the opportunity and first offer for administrator came along (I declined the first time as I didn't feel ready) those good vibes of just wanting to help out expanded. However this time, you have a whole set of mod's you personally get to seek out and train, even if you gotta end up denying a few t mods and friends along the way, you're still helping out the community and even more invested than you were before. You get to leave even more of an impact on the community and layout the foundation for the next generation of staff members. It feels good to feel helpful/useful I guess. After a while of this, you reach a certain point where 95% of staffing is pretty easy and just muscle memory literally and metaphorically. It becomes easy and natural to include moderating during TTT sessions with your friends.

Another thing is just the friends you make along the way in the staff team. I've made tons of friends as a result, tons of wonderful people I would absolutely meet up with in person should the opportunity arise. Some of which I already plan to meet one day.

Sorry if I went offtopic in all that, but that's how I feel and why.

    Imagine this: A bear admin!

Not a lot of you guys here know this about me, but I did a lot of volunteer work back in the day for children.
Sadly you could only do that here as a teenager and when you get older your time is to limited to spend so much days on volunteering that your social life will die because of it.

Lucky enough online staffing has a better agenda then real life volunteering.
I'm already a staff member of different communities since like 8 years now.

Still feels great to help out a community!
Each time I have resigned I feel a big part of me is missing and a lot of time is wasted doing nothing and not sure knowing what to do outside of just staffing again >.<

I sometimes feel like I need a break and I do, but then I just get back on that saddle and staff my ass off.

I planned and refused to apply for staff so many times. I mean, it is intriguing, but I also enjoyed being a normie. First time I wanted to apply for staff back in 2018, it was more for the popularity rather than actually moderating the server. I changed my mind, because of school. Other times I wanted to apply for staff, I actually wanted to apply for a real job first, so I changed my mind again, but this time, I was a member of this community for 2 years, and I genuinely cared about keeping the servers alive and active. Then the covid-19 quarantines happened... After my semester was over, I tried to cross everything on my to-do list in my free time, but that went faster than I expected to be. I was so worn off with everything, I couldn't get a job at the time, and since I was spending a lot of my free time on SGM, I applied for the staff member, to do something different. I am very committed to being a staff member, and I enjoy it a lot, even with its ups and downs. If things go back to normal in the world, I might go back enjoying being a normie, but that won't happen anytime soon. I am just really enjoying playing Trouble in Terrorist Town, it is my favorite game, and if this server goes down, I won't find another good server like this to play my favorite game.

Thanks for being such an awesome community

STTT was the second TTT server I joined when I booted up GMod to play TTT; I honestly couldn't tell you the name of the other one. I enjoyed the weapon packs, the maps, and the staff at the time.

I was stationed in Alaska during my first tenure and there were many times that I would be on that we didn't have staff. So, I applied and was picked up for the duty.

After that, my reason to return as staff have all been pretty much the same; to help out the team when they're undermanned or just need the help.

I will say that my most recent resignation and the period that I'm in now has been nice. I'm not too bothered by what goes on here and occasionally check in to see what's new and what's old.

This has been pretty much the only TTT community I stuck too, it's been a great blast over the many years.

umm, but honestly, I just felt I could do more so I took the opportunity, and now we have made memes of @Indy226 and I think the job is done.

I'ma stick around for a lot longer too.
