Figured I’d make a thread for people to recommend books they’ve read.

Recently I made a goal for this summer to read 10 books. However I’m only two in. I’ve read “Chasing the Scream,” a book on the history of the war on drugs and it’s effects on the US communities. The second book I’m about to finish is “In the Buddha’s Words,” this book I was recommended by a friend. It’s not so much religion but the psychology on Buddha’s teachings and how it’s taught people to do good.

Please throw in some recommendations below.

I read that a few years ago and loved it. I then read another book by her called “The Hole We’re In.” And I’d highly recommend.

If you haven't read it yet, both One day in the life of Ivan Denisovich and Fahrenheit 451 are amazing books

@Espurr I read Fahrenheit 451 and was the slowest book to get into but I ended up loving it. I’ll give the One Day in the Life if Ivan Denisovich a shot

if you like Fahrenheit, I suggest 1984 by George Orwell and On Tyranny by Timothy Snyder. I also haven't read Brave New World or Rhinoceros yet, but I heard both are great too.

Horns by Joe Hill ... then you can watch the movie after - which is just as good. It's a nice quick read though.
and hes Stephen Kings son. I take it on every flight.

Doug Stanhopes book, Digging up Mother. If you like dark humor, with true stories, its a great read. Especially if you are a comedy fan.

    - 1984 was recommended to me on Amazon but I didn’t look into it much. I’m going to the bookstore today and I’ll look for it!

    - Rick Riordan is a good among authors. I’ve read all his series.

I read “It” and my god that book just felt never ending. There were way too many details and characters to keep up with. So I don’t know if I can handle another Stephen King. The dude has to be mental for the shit he came up with.

    - No lie I’ve never read the Harry Potter Series, I liked the movies and that was enough. Plz no hate. But I will check out the dark humor one, that’s my type of stuff right there.

It's history, but it helped me learn about the life of someone, someone who had troubles in life, had little education, but worked their way up to be the president of the United States.
