who the fuck decided that first ban wouldnt be global

also dont tell me "oh theres already a thread about this" fuck you change it back to global the fact that solaire gets reported on the forums for hacking on vanilla, get banned and then can hop to east to do the same shit is fucking stupid, leave it at 4 weeks and let them get a "2nd chance" after their fucking ban is up

Is it really worth getting this heated over? If i was home at my desktop he would already be globaled, but i'm at work and can't do anything about it. With how slowly the administration works to globalize and extend bans, users would still be able to cause mass amounts of chaos before an admin could get on to punish them with a global. Are you suggesting that we give the power to globalize bans to moderators?

I don't know if I can support that suggestion because no good points have been put forward other than "fuck you change it"

1st time hacking offenses arent global according to the motd, when solaire joined east i told cupcake and he told me
Cupcake Mayhem to You: can't ban unless he hacks here too
which is fucking stupid because, 1. it should be global by first offense because it's illogical to just allow them to join the other servers, so just get him off the server before he can hack again and 2. since this is apparently his 2nd time getting banned for it he should be global banned already so just ban him without waiting a whole map+ just to record him for an unnecessary amount of time to ban him for his 3rd offense

Personally I'd be all for First Time Global Bans. The Question Really is the amount of extra work load for admins, and the practicality of the situation. There has been a myriad of threads calling for changes to Hacking Bans previously that don't seem to of got anywhere, but I could see this being a change that shouldn't be too hard to implement. *Depending on the functionality of the GlobalBan Command.

What is to Prevent Moderators Having a Limited Version Of the Global Ban Command set to a maximum of 1 day (Like the Max 8 Week Ban For Moderators Currently)? All Hacking Evidence is logged either way, at that point the evidence would just need to be looked at and then the bans could be extending within that time period.

I feel like it shouldn't need to be justified why a User who has hacked On one of SGM's servers shouldn't then be able to immediately connect to the another SGM Server.

For whatever reason there have been an insane number of hackers recently, especially on Vanilla. Global banning these fucks on the first offense should be the standard

there should be family sharing protection on the server or something. it would cut down the hackers, changing the rule most likely wont.

The issue with this is that some people legitimately use family share to play non-maliciously. Though, I will admit, mostly just hackers use it.

Most hackers won't go through the effort to change their IP to hack, so it would be easier to see if they are evading. Some won't even bother using family sharing. There is 0 reason that hacking should not end with a global perma ban.

just simply have it as a global ban. makes zero sense to basically let them go hack on the other servers.

Let mods global ban instead of having to go to an admin to get it globalized (unless that was changed since I was staff) and boom, hackers switching from server to server to hack is gone.

there's always gonna be hackers no matter what you change. Might as well global it on the 1st one so they can't go fuck with the other servers.

What needs to happen is more active admins. I remember only a couple admins going through ban requests. That's kind of where staff may have gotten the whole "Mango rules by fear" attitude; I held them accountable.

Now that we have another Lead holding the team accountable, the punishment requests will be carried out a little more swiftly again. But it can't just be up to the leads to hold people accountable.

One thing the team has seemed to have lost is self accountability and responsibility. Now, the players don't deserve a staff team that looks at quantity over quality. Don't rush through things; that's how we get false slays and false bans. Take your time, focus, and press yourselves towards improvement.

So, after thinking about this for a long time, I have finally been able to put my thoughts to words. In the past we moved towards a punishment system that would have the first offense be globalized and the second be a permanent ban. This system created a problem within the administration: it created an unnecessary work load being placed on our shoulders. Now it may seem like no big deal to you, but when you have a set of moderators who are constantly finding and banning new people, the list of who needs to be globalized gets longer and longer. When you have to sit down and weed through a mountain of requests in your limited time, you will often find that you aren't able to spend that time dealing with your moderators. It is one thing or the other, and many would choose the one that was more fun: dealing with their moderators. So it often ended up being one or two people handling the backlog of requests.

As far as giving moderators the ability to globalize bans: No. Being able to ban someone across all of our servers is something we reserve for admins because of their discretion to use their tools only in the proper circumstances. That and I trust admins more with that power than I do moderators. Especially if said moderators are new to the team. I mean, just think about how frustrating it would be if you were not a hacker, but you got banned by a new moderator anyways. Under the current system you can go on other servers while you wait for your appeal to be handled. Under your system they would basically have to wait for the moderator to come back from holiday. I just don't feel comfortable entrusting moderator's with that level of power. Sorry.

You will find that we often do globalize hacking bans, especially if the player has shown they are willing to move to other servers and continue their hacking spree. However, if they aren't willing to do that, I see no reason in globalizing the ban. This is just me however. I think it is best we keep it to a case by case basis and trust that our admins will know what to do, and if they don't, they will hear from me very soon.

But still the questions remains if the punishment might have a way to get more serious. Like for example the way people rdm it it
    1: punishment
    2: harsh punishment
    3: hammer deployed

Can we alter the way of hacking to:
1: punishment by mod lvl (4w)
2: punishment by admin (watch out)(8w)
    3: lead will hammer(perm)

i have no idea where giving mods the ability to global came from i never said some dumb shit like that and im not even asking to make 2nd ban permanent, i already know you cucks wont give us that, im simply asking to make 1st offense global so hackers arent allowed to hack on vanilla, get reported on the forums, banned, and then join west/east to keep playing.

Hacking first as a perma ban is way over the top as a punishment. There are players of this community right now who have been caught hacking and are still here not causing and trouble because they realized hacking is pointless. Perma banning first offense hacking would 1. Create a massive amount of perma bans leads need to do, 2. Eliminate players from this community that may change if they make one bad decision. That’s a definite no.

    So like,
Banning people permanently will cause leads to ban people permanently, and it'd eliminate cheaters from the community.

I feel like the only point your trying to make is that cheaters won't cheat after they're caught.

I do not agree with you there. Fuck the cheaters. I'm not even sure why you guys sympathize with them. CAC should've been added in 2015
