Today we had to ban two of our admins for leaking staff information and I want to take a minute to address leaking and its punishments and how it is not worth it. Sometimes we ban people for reasons you don't agree with and this might make you upset with us, but don't go leaking to your "friends" when we have made it clear that leaking is against our rules and will result in a punishment up to a permanent ban from the community. In the case of these two admins, the "friends" they leaked to decided it was time to share the evidence with us after someone else got banned yesterday for leaking. It was their way of getting back at SGM. We lost two great admins today because this other group decided to use them as pawns in their little game. They know we have rules and policies and are forced to act on them. So no matter how badly you feel about SGM, if you feel you can't handle it then resign (if you're active staff) and distance yourself. Do not leak to your "friends" who might decide to backstab you months down the line for their own personal gain.
I'm surprised people still think leaking actually hurts SGM. I've seen things I shouldn't have and believe me most of it is residentsleeper. If you get a mod to tell you that your adminstats say ignore 1 slay or ban on 2/15 is voided you've hardly learned anything and you just got a mod demoted. You can believe that anything that actually needs to stay secret is gonna be lead only info and good luck getting anything from them. Honestly all the hype for leaking comes from the punishments and not the actual info leaked. Even the most boring note on your adminstats can seem interesting if it's viewed as a forbidden fruit. I remember during 1/11 a discord was being sent around and all the people involved were posting screenshots of staff/admin discussion. Literally nothing I saw in those screenshots would have any impact if it were public. A lot of the stuff in staff discussion is things you would expect to be there (Can't get specific here). People either leak because they're pissed and think they can get revenge or they ask for leaks and find out how boring a mod's job really is. If you still can't grasp the impact leaks actually have and why they're punished so harshly I'm gonna grab popcorn for when you decide to do it.
For those who snitched fuck you, ryan was a good guy. Doesnt deserve a ban* just bc you wanna play the hero.
