Delete the notes section, add anticheat and we can wrap this up Oh yeah and just demote them if they leak or something idk banning is pretty gay
~~BIG LEAK HERE~~ We are trying to pban neutral for everything he got. (Now jokes aside) Now on the serious side i believe leaking has always be seen as a big nono. But what is considered leaking is for everybody different. Some people see the leaking of adminstats as a serious offence while others find it a mild punishment. In my own opinion i believe there is not a lot to leak if you are respectful to the players. That meaning not to go around and say to people they are toxic cause their adminstats say it, or to believe people don't change after harsh punishments and to keep the believe that they
I remember back then adminstats were so "valuable" (If you want to call it that) that players would pay staff on PayPal. I believe it depends on what is being leaked. If its adminstats, what do they contain? Are they "this player is helpful and assistive" or is it "this player is toxic and loopholes xyz rule". If it is the latter than that player would know how to loophole another way. Of course, this would also apply for other information that is leaked to the public playerbase
Leaking isn't a monochromatic issue, 90% of adminstats are mundane, completely uninteresting, but our tools for catching rule-breakers? From your replies, I'm assuming that that is what this thread is getting at, that leaking someone's adminstats isn't as severe as giving away some management-breaking exploit. It's not so much a matter of the content, but the fundamental breach of trust it curtails. Something like say, leaking conversations from a staff chat, would fundamentally kill trust between staff, and we can never say that it was just one person's stats that were leaked, or that it was only once at all. As for staff being hesitant to talk to players cause of a fear of leaking, yeah.. that's just part of it. My mum's a teacher, and in my life, I've overheard things that need to remain confidential, and cause of that I watch what I say to make sure that not even a clue would leave my mouth. Of course the implications of that could be far more severe, but we must remember that SGM is still a community based on servers, it relies in part on staff being able to be responsible with the information they come across, and mature in how they handle it. The lengths or type of punishment are discretionary because of this, they factor in the details and consequences and can still be appealed to Big T or whoever is lead at the time.
"tools" lel any half decent hacker can just run a lua downloader and expose 90% of the preventative measures. And these days according to @neutral hackers use DLL injection style methods for hacking.
I would post proof that other communities have used it and shown it, but no advertising. I'm going to say this: SGM has this irrational fear of adapting when they need to adapt. It's like the deathscenes scenario where people were against it despite the benefits being known. SGM's hack catching tools are inadequate compared to the tools that other communities have used. This is what frustrates me with SGM. It's a very conservative place compared to other communities I have been part of. You can't always forever rely on the same old methods as the world modernizes and move on ahead (this include gmod hacks and what not) to keep things going just like how you can't keep riding the wave of temporary population boost whenever something major and dramatic happen such as 1/11 and shut down. Also, xproplayer, hackers do use DLL injection style methods for hacking nowadays.
For my gmod hacks i used an external dll. I had the hack in the same folder as the dll and just had to use a console fommand to use the fheat “external smeghack.lua” for example. Pretty nice if i do say so myself. Mot the hack but the dll. Imo a correctly calibrated cake anticheat will 99% of the time never ban for a false positive. And the times i is a false positive they can be unbanned easily. This will stop cheaters who dont bother with a bypass, which is almost all cheaters bc they dont even know theres a bypass (new players in particular). Cheaters who are able to bypass can be banned through forum reports easily. Cake will definitely cut down the hacking reports by at least 50% in my opinion.
It's happened before, someone put my ip into a Pastebin to share around lol, It's why i use a vpn now.
This is honestly gonna be the fattest RIP ive ever given. Fuck that person on god We need a “damn” rating
Luckily Pastebin logs IP of people who post things, Unluckily I'm pretty sure they were behind a VPN themselves, so hasn't lead anywhere yet.
Nah, besides them trying to find my address, my service provider changes my ip every month or so anyways
I dont pay anything extra, technically i could go unplug my modem and plug it back and I'd have a new ip, I have the vpn mostly so people cant find my exact address
