I used to hate this as a 'map feature', especially when @panzershrimp would go on a few escapades to teach the whole server how to do it, but it's really grown on me, and I wouldn't be for an outright removal.

Don't know if maps have the capacity to do this, but maybe someone could play with the map and make it so that when it hits overtime, everyone down there is moved onto a building and then the streets flood with lava or something silly. Prevents delaying without staff member intervention, but keeps a bit exploration and fun edge the map currently has.

If that were to be done, the same would have to be done for the assault stop too. You can't cherry pick your hard to reach areas. -1

The assault roof only requires strafing, and everyone knows how to get there. You can have 10 people at times get to the roof in a single game

Whereas in Metropolis you have maybe 1 or 2 people who actually know how to get down there then camp the rest of the game. It's unfair to those that don't know how

Also, there is another section in metropolis that you are unable to get to without strafing, but you don't see me suggesting to remove that do you?

We could pull a Canyon and have the water flood to the top of some buildings in overtime? I wouldn't be against that

You just made a point against yourself, if it's unfair to players who don't know how to get to the bottom of metropolis, it's unfair to players on assault who don't know how to get on top of the building. Just because one is less known does not warrant removal.

You can't just add shit to a map like that after the fact with lua, there are limitations.

    Heya,

@Opalium is aware of this and the issues that surrounds this one. We have plans on addressing it... somehow. Not completely sure what the plans are on Opal's side (probably making the floor lava as @Python~ threw out) but in a future update this will be addressed.

Quite difficult to just "add lava" in a map, you cannot add solid objects or water as they are world brushes.

Do they attend to address other hard to reach areas, such as the one on assault. They should receive the same treatment.

We don't really have the same issue of delaying with cs_assault that we do with metropolis. If it causes more issues in the future, we may- but as of right now, it's such a common known feature and a bit non-disruptive that it's allowed.

I didn't mean actual lava. :banghead:

Strafing and crouch jumping whilst hugging a wall isn't that difficult and the area is so small you can just frag it.

What @BorkWoof said. Also, it's hard to play a round on assault and NOT see how to get to the roof

Metropolis is too large so you can't see exactly how to get down there like on assault. Plus, like @HelixSpiral mentioned, delaying on the glitch roof isn't as much of an issue as on the streets of metropolis

Adding any world brushes doesn't work mate.

The assault roof doesn't even cause delay if anyone alive knows how to play, just toss a few nades up and the guy will die or jump down

  15. Actually it is possible, with limited functionality. This is in console command format, not sure how to make it in LUA.

    ent_create func_brush targetname mybrush
    ent_fire mybrush addoutput "mins,500 500 500"
    ent_fire mybrush addoutput "maxs,-500 -500 -500"

This wil create a cuboid brush at the 2 co-ordinates. I haven't experimented with it too much, but its somewhat possible

why does it have to be lava? it is just another texture to cause lag. why can't it just be a func_kill or whatever its called.

I literally say "lava or some shit", and I didn't literally mean lava

Can't they just have a kill field added? I mean, I have never tried modding Gmod, but I've modded in other games and generally speaking if something works in one place, it works in others, there's at least one T trap that has a kill field (I think it's innomotel spike trap?) as I've seen a mod accidentally move someone into said T trap and they've been alive in it specifically because the mod moved them underneath the kill field.

Again, speaking purely from the perspective of someone who mods considerably less shitty different engines than the source engine, but from my experience modding shit, everything basically works the same it's just how you get there that changes lol.
