I don't know how many times I scanned the Minecraft section here on the forums and see another back-and-forth argument that has gone to the point of staff intervention, but it's got to stop.

Right now I don't think staff need to intervene yet (on this thread) it hasn't gotten toxic just people being salty.

  8. I could honestly care less if people knew where I live, but to publicly broadcast it for everyone (especially for the players who only want to kill people and nothing else) is a bit of a dick move, man. I'm not mad, just sayin' that I try to avoid any kind of fighting as it causes too much drama. If you visit my house while I'm online, I'll probably give you some sort of gift if you're nice tho ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ just be warned, I have a hoard of dogs in my attic ;)

How do you know where my base is, and that I own it accordingly? I haven't legitimately played since day one.

    Also, it's "sagesc".

I'm consumed by curiosity as to what there is to gain by this other then to spread mass paranoia and panic. I honestly believe this is counter-productive in promoting a fun environment for anyone.

The difference between a few people knowing your coordinates and the whole server(and people who haven't even played on our server yet) knowing it, due to this thread, is a seasoned PVP group coming to knock on your door now and again, compared to everyone and their grandmother shoving their swords up your rear. It's not fun. And if you're asking what the difference between someone saying someone else's coordinates in public chat in-game and making a thread about it is this is literally borderline general targetting for anyone who's unlucky enough to be found, sold out, or just straight up unlucky. You're just making a list and letting anyone check it off as they please.

Why would anyone want to group up with anyone? This isn't even a complaint about PVP, it's a genuine concern for why you would even fathom the idea to put this together. If people want to make thier own private lists on a book and quill, or keep it on a spreadsheet and use or sell them at a later date, perfectly fine with me, but a thread that is basically giving everyone on it two options: A. Move away and run or B. Stand, fight, and worry every waking second of your minecraft play through, with good reason, doesn't sit right with me.

I'm not asking as a staffmember, but as a player who enjoys actually seeing other friendly players(and jumping into a good PVP joust now and again)that you don't promote something so negative. Just keep it to yourself or sell it, but not this please.

Can we all just agree this thread can only have a negative outcome? It already has done some damage, and I dont think its fair that @Harry Potter can manage peoples coords how he wants, and make them public whenever he decides to. Thats why I want to request that @Deathbyrussian and @irritatingness make it against the rules to make other peoples coordinates public like this, and at the least I request my coords to be taken off this list. The only people who can win with this are PVPers and griefers, and even though it might not always have a negative outcome to all people on that list, it also has no positive outcome in any situation. Im not saying people cant share coordinates, but when its made with evil intent by a person who doesnt have the right or permission to distribute them like this, thats when it goes too far.

Kyle, I found your base today and I shared your coords with people because we like to keep tabs on where people live. How is that any different? You can't stop people from sharing things. Just because it isn't in a forum post doesn't mean you can censor everyone to keeping things to themselves.

If you want to fully avoid anyone knowing where you live, I don't suggest building in an ice biome on top of a hill. There are plenty of ways to build safely and not worry about people finding you, because the way it is now any ol' person could stumble upon your location and do whatever they wish with it.

Edit: there are millions of blocks for you to hide in. If you want to hide, hide. If you want to be seen, build in the open. Both come with risks and rewards. If someone does something against the rules to your place, that's another thing- but to condemn someone for sharing coords is silly. I don't personally agree with publicly outing them, but the result is nonetheless the same as privately sharing among friends.

Edit 2: I know where 99% of these people live by finding them on my own and have shared those coords with people I trust, PvP and non-PvP. I've sold some, but none of them have been just "mine". All coords I share are those I have came across naturally, none that I have been TP to. Majority of my time the last 4 or 5 days has been wandering around the map finding things. Whether it be following a map with @POP STAR or aimlessly walking with @DieKasta, things have been found and will continue to be found unless you build underground or in the sky(questionably safe). Other people aren't responsible for you choosing to build in the open.

The difference is, you actually went out and found it, and didnt have unfair acces to it via a thread that you saw on the forums. Im not against people finding my base and attempting to kill or raid me (as long as its in the parameters of the rules), but this just gives massive power to people who didnt even work for it. And I bet you shared it with a couple of friends you trust, not potentially hundreds of people you dont even know the intentions of. THATS the difference.

And quickly responding to your edit, I dont wanna hide, and im fine with taking the risk of living in the open, but again, its not fair that someone can PUBLICLY share my coords with anybody, and you sharing it with your group of friends is very different compared to that. I also keep track of where most people live, but thats as far as it goes, since unlike this thread, I dont have evil intent with these coords.Instead I actually have given a lot of expensive stuff to strangers, since I consider myself a friendly player, but not everyone is like that (in their right), and this puts that friendlyness that me and many people have in danger since YOU CANT trust anybody.

People can have multiple intentions for sharing coords. I take coords down so I know where people live just like anyone else. I share them with people not knowing or caring what their personal intentions are. If someone were to ask to buy coords from me, I wouldn't say no.

This isn't the only way people can get your coords so I really don't understand the issue other than the fact he keeps himself and his group off the list published here. He welcomes anyone to post theirs or anyone elses and anybody has the right to do so. There's absolutely nothing wrong with doing it. It may provide a "check list", but technically I have one too so why the big deal?

Build in the open and you risk being exposed, publicly or privately. That's bare-bones what this is. You can't have your cake and eat it too.

  17. Honestly, if anyone wants my head I'll gladly give it to you. But I'm gonna have to agree with @POP STAR and @Kyle the Penguin

Players shouldn't have to be afraid of people publicly posting their base coordinates. It's fine to do it in game in some sort of pm or whatever but most of the people on that list I know (including me, "astaarpth_" ) aren't that much of a threat that I know of. I think it might be a little bit questionable to be making a list of people's coords that could potentially give an unfair advantage to the extreme PvPers that are on the server. Yeah, people could build a safe little bunker underground but who would wanna just live underground and be afraid of other players when going to the surface? You can do some pretty creative stuff underground to be honest but that might not be what everyone agrees on doing. ;)

You choose to be afraid. If you play like me- don't take anything that is your "best" and don't care if you lose what you have because it is easily replaceable- the game is just as fun. If you have been to my house, I have many large buildings and a very successful area for new players to build and enjoy. If you lose your "Sunday best", then that's your own fault. Keep the good stuff for fighting and enjoy iron just as much as diamond.

With such a large play area, you could easily build something above ground as well as below ground. No one is limiting your creative experience but you if you are "afraid" and only choose to build 1 base, especially with how easy /home is and the fact it is available for everyone.

  20. I don't carry all my valuables when going out either, I just take the old beaten up junk no one wants. If I did, that would be me just begging someone to kill me tbh. I completely agree with you there that you don't have to be afraid or limit your creativity just so you can be safe, I'm just saying that it easily targets specific people and gives an advantage to the troublemakers of the server like McSniperDragon and his little crew. It's not a problem personally with me, and I'm not trying to make enemies. But as I said before I'll probs give you a gift of some sort if you come and visit my base peacefully if I'm online.
