Based on my ban i would like to clarify how rdm's are counted.
Important: do not explain anything about offense 'rdm and leave'. For this discussion, we agree that does not happen.

After i got banned i tried to clarify on priv with xaxago how to understand rdm x1 x2 etc...
We can't understand each other, my english is not very good, and i guess i can't specify what i would like to know.

If i do rdm, get punished for rdm, do rdm again, get punished for rdm x2, do rdm again, i'll be banned for rdm x3 for 24h and then when come back it resets and rdm is counted from begining-that's what xaxago explain to me.

Before when I was punished for rdm and play again on server after some time and do first rdm noone count my rdm as second time because "some time ago u did rdm". Where is a "reset point" for count rdm?
That's clear if I do 3 rdm on one map I'll be banned, but if I'll do 3rd rdm in 1 week period I'll be banned too?

It's usually just over the span of 3 maps or your entire play session. :)

Either your play session, or for as long as the staff can remember. I don't think there's a hard number.

Really, it is very discretion based, most staff, and especially admins I talk to about it have said that it is also based on your behavior. Act nice and not toxic, and your "time that they keep the rdm count going" will be a bit smaller. Maybe the 3 maps others talk about. Otherwise, if you are toxic, not enough to get banned yet, but enough to begin ruining fun for others, they will keep that rdm count going for as long as they remember.

Honestly, it's how long the mod can remember how many times you've been slain. It also could be a certain number of maps depending on the mod but likely it's based on memory. It's not like they write down every single person's screen name and how many time they've been slain that day. If you rdm a couple of times but you're not rude or toxic or otherwise making a show off yourself the mod will probably forget after a couple maps. If you yell and scream and make a fuss the mod will most likely remember a couple maps later that you rdm'd twice. One time I forgot someone had rdm'd previously but then he insulted me in the exact same way he had the first time he'd been slain and that reminded me it was his second rdm and he was punished accordingly

There's no specific "reset point" when counting RDM incidents for a player. It is a matter of logic and common sense. If a player RDMed 3 days ago and RDMs again now, it wouldn't make sense to consider this the 2nd offense. However, if the last RDM happened only a while ago, it is more logical.
Eventually, it's down to common sense and the staff member's discretion.

There is no set timer, it depends on the mod. Some mods do it for as long they can remember, others do it for 3 maps or 2 maps. It really is down to the staff member.

    ok i have a question

Let's say I RDM, but I am new and trying to abide the rules.

It's been 3 maps since my last RDM. I rdm again, but on accident. But yeah accidental rdm is still rdm.

3 Maps later I have a non meaningful RDM

the staff member remembered all of this shit and banned me for mass RDM x3

    what da fuk

    no reset point?

can we please make one. Cause just to be a dick, I could get staff and tally down their RDM offenses. And ban a lot of regulars. ( if I was mod) and no sir I would not get demoted, because it is doing my job. If you argue differently then I'd say the system is flawed.

CAUSE A NEW PLAYER IS WANTING TO ABIDE THE RULES, AND WANTS TO PLAY, DOESN'T JUST FUCKING TROLL AND GO ON AN RDM SPREE. Nah. Nah man he tries his best to abide rules, yet still ends up banned. Fuck that shit dude, that ain't fun. There's a ton of tiny rules and shit.

The reason this hasn't really ever been an issue is because most staff aren't dickheads. I'd rather the staff keep this tool up their sleeve to get rid of obnoxious people to be honest.

Edit: forgot this was Q&A. Zyps post is your answer.

Although this question was marked as answered, I feel like it wasn't truly answering what you were asking. Staff members are intended to be unbiased on how you perform in-game and how you get punished. If you are a bit on the controversial side, you are not more likely to be punished for RDM from a long time ago. Toxic behavior falls under a different, admin-discretion based criteria and is not intended to carry over to how rules are used, but the extent to which the punishments apply in your case. They are intended to change the intensity of the punishment based on a more intense scene, but not how we categorize others. We count the counter based on "playtime sessions" or one sitting, you can call it. The exactly definition of it, as many said, remains under decisions of staff members but it is made clear of "one sitting". Many times, this would not carry over to extremely lengthy sitting you and a staff member would have, and RDM from 3 hours ago would not count against you.
